On tap at brewery. Aroma is dominated by chai with a light roast and nutty character. No hops or alcohol present in aroma. Pours a slightly cloudy brown with some ruby highlights and a thin tan head with average retention. Light lacing. Flavor has a more noticeable malt character than the aroma. Light roast, moderate chocolate and nuttiness. Hints of dark caramel and toffee. Moderately strong chai notes but they come in mid palate so you can still get the malt notes. No hop flavor and light bitterness. Fairly sweet. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall better than I was expecting. While the chai is strong, especially in the aroma, it doesn’t completely overwhelm the malt in the flavor.

Pour on tap at the brewery, dark brownish pour with thin tan head, aroma brought notes of cinnamon, clove, spice, nice earth, grain, dark cocoa notes, hints of caramel, toffee, slight nutty notes as well. Taste is a mix of caramel, toffee, mixing into nice chai spice notes with cinnamon, clove, some slight grain and earthy tones, nuts, finishing dry, sweet.

On tap at the Avery tap takeover at Pub 17 in Denver, CO during GABF week 2013. Brown pour with a thin khaki head. Aroma of roasted coffee, light chocolate, and chai tea. The chai is prominent in the flavor with some added light chocolate and floral hops. Some spiciness from the chai on the finish. Decent overall.

Smells like star anise mostly, cinnamon, nutmeg, etc. Hoppy flavors balanced with the sweetness of the spices. Raisins and bread. A little thin on the mouthfeel but other than that, great flavor.

(Draught) cloudy medium brown, creamy tan head with nice lacing. Nose of chai, nutty, raisin, great spice balance. Taste is even better, chai but balanced without the overpowering allspice, raisin, clove, great nutty and spicy palate finish.

On tap at Avery. Poured a murky dark brown with a thin broken off white head. The aroma is big ginger and spice. The flavour is medium bitter with a spicy weak liqourice fruit palate. A really unusual beer which is really refreshing and if you like spice you will love this.
