3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 5000 (4104) - Hardened Liver, USA - OCT 17, 2010
Draught @ Brouwer’s Café:   Black, deep brown hues, fairly sticky lacing.   Soft Bourbon on the nose, sweet roasted malts, a little oaty.   Yes, that’s oats and not oaks.   Smooth, not heavy, well balanced, some more Bourbon notes on the backside.   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   This one isn’t a bruiser, yet more of a subtle example of a Bourbon aged stout.   Robust, yet not brash.   Flavorful, yet not ober the top.   Straight forward good example of the style.
3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 thirdeye11 (4093) - Dallas, Texas, USA - MAR 3, 2011
(Draught) jet black pour, minimal dark brown head. Nose of bourbon, vanilla bean, raisins, brown sugar, rum, fudgey, awesome, complex and very sweet. Taste is mildly vinous, raisins, maple, fudge, alcohol and vanilla, bourbon, toasty/roasty, quad-like in many respects, and brown sugar. A bit too alcoholic, soft carbonation, medium slick body with a huge duration.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Dogbrick (4828) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUL 30, 2010
UPDATED: AUG 26, 2010 On draught at the tap room/brewery. The beer pours black with a medium thick rocky beige head that diminishes slowly. Top ring of lacing with strings underneath. Boozy, chocolatey aroma. Rich, smooth body with flavors of bourbon, dark chocolate, malt and roasted coffee. The finish is roasty and oaky with a bourbon-infused chocolate aftertaste. Good beer overall.

Taster @ Stone Oakquinox. Pours a very viscous black with a creamy tan head, some spotty lacing. Nose starts with creamy coconut and vanilla, then gives way to faint rum and cocoa dust. Flavor was quite boozy right off the bat. I think this beer might have done a little better if they started with a less boozy base beer.

Draft @ Brouwer’s Stout Fest; oily black with trace tan head; candy bourbon, vanilla and oats on the nose; quite boozy up front with syrupy thin texture; sticky mouthfeel and sweet bourbon in the finish; base stout is quite thin to me and mostly big time barrel and bourbon dominating

Draft, Brouwer’s. Black pour, tan bubbles. Lots of bourbon on the aroma, dark coffee roasty notes. This is a very smooth bourbon loaded imperial stout, some vanilla, light char, roasty coffee and chocolate. Not hot at all for a bourbon barrel stout. Loved this one.
