COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Boulder Weisse echoes the traditional flavor profile while adding a few Avery twists to the brewing method. This inaugural batch was aged in oak barrels for six months with a rustic Brettanomyces yeast strain and finished at 5% ABV. We present our homage in a customary goblet with your choice of a handmade syrup from fruit typically grown in Colorado - peach and cherry.

Aroma - Faintly sweet with a little tart background. Not overpoweringly aromatic Appearance - Yellow and hazy. Typical coloring of an unfiltered wheat. Taste - One of the absolute best sour beers I’ve ever had. It is very sessionable, has a tart and sour taste to it that isn’t overpowering at all with a sweet undertone. Very light feeling for a beer of this much flavor. The wheat is present but is covered up by the Bret. Palate - feels great going down. Has perfect carbonation, and a small head on it that dissipates quickly. Overall - I had this at the Avery Tap Takeover, and was super impressed. Was served as a 10oz draft pour in a 12oz belgian style glass. Asked the waitress what the best sour they had was and she recommended this. I’m glad she did! I’ll be going back, and I hope they still have a little left over!

Pale yellow pour with almost no head. A really tart nose with a little yeast. A nice sour front with a bit of citrus and bread flavor. Great brew.

Tart and fruity. Pours a straw yellow with not much head. Aroma is tart, apple and yeast. Taste is very tart but not like a sour. The finish is dry and very refreshing. Really enjoyable.

At avery. Pours mostly clear light gold. Aroma is lactic, tart, citrus. Flavor is citrus, strong lactic, tart wheat. Pleasant tartness and great texture. Lively carbonation, medium-light body, and refreshing texture. An amazing berlinerweiss, funky, tart, wheaty awesomeness.

Tasty, tap room exclusive. Barn yard, musty aroma. Biting sourness, almost like a lambic at the first sip. Probably the most different Avery brew I’ve ever had, I was really happy to see them attempt a sour.

On draft at Avery. Pours a hazy yellow with a frothy white head. Nose is citrus, grass, light fruit, and a bit of yogurt-esque tartness. Flavor is similar with tart citrus, light wheat, light fruit, and mild yogurt. Light in body, mild fruit, and tart citrus into the finish.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a cloudy orange color with a medium white head. A big sour, citrus and grassy nose. The flavor is a nice tart and fizzy mix with light herbs, a bit of oranges and peel, light hay. Pretty good.

Draught at the brewery, on October 15, 2012
Hazy straw yellow color, white head. Funky, acidic, lemon taste. Spritzy mouthfeel, low bitterness. Acidic aftertaste. Acidic scent. This is very much reminding me of a friendly gueuze or lambic.
