Our Boulder Weisse echoes the traditional flavor profile while adding a few Avery twists to the brewing method. This inaugural batch was aged in oak barrels for six months with a rustic Brettanomyces yeast strain and finished at 5% ABV. We present our homage in a customary goblet with your choice of a handmade syrup from fruit typically grown in Colorado - peach and cherry.

Pouring at EBF 2014. Pours a faintly hazed gold with a medium sized white head. Musky funk, soft acid. Tart and bright, with some mustard like tang. Funk and musk into the finish. Easy drinking and quite lovely.

On tap at Avery. Golden appearance with a white head. Aroma of lemon zest, tart fruits, mild sour notes, rustic yeast and wheat malts. Similar flavor, sour and tart with light herbs and a touch of spice. Light body, crisp and smooth with a light puckering feel. Pretty refreshing.

Taster at Avery. Light lacing. Wheat and funk. Wet and slightly tart. Finishes a bit muddled. Honestly, at $6 for a 3oz taster... I expected a lot more from this guy.

Short: Low sourness Berliner with diacetyl problems

Origin: Tap at Churchills Size: 4oz taster Glass: Mini Pilsner Price: $2-3 Date: 1/14/14
Long: Pours a low haze, straw white with wispy foam. Nose is mild vinegar, fresh dough. Taste is clean and lactic with big soda carbonation. Quite the buttery finish with chardonnay buttery oak flavor. Not quite that sour, more tart and refreshing. Simple with more of a fresh sour taste and nose.
Flaws: Mild diacetyl
Skill: Above Average

Nice vinous sour aroma. Taste is more tart than a standard Berliner. Carbonation is a bit light but a nice full flavored Berliner. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
