UPDATED: MAR 10, 2013 On tap at Avery. A really delicious beer. Dark black pour, chocolate is the most pronounced taste, with mint and espresso on the palate.

Taster at Avery’s. Appearance: average sized off-white head, deep amber red/brown color, clear, good lacing. Aroma: mint, cereal, chocolate, vanilla, roast, nuts. Palate: full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Taste: heavy sweetness the whole way through, tastes like a Girl Scout Thin Mint. Overall, I really enjoyed this beer, it is different and well done, even if it is not the most balanced (too much mint).

Excellent aroma and appearance that left much to be desired on the palate. An Avery fan .... just not of this one.

UPDATED: FEB 14, 2014 Tap at Avery. Pours brown with thin tan head, minimal lacing. Aroma is strong chocolate and mint, quite sweet, roasted malt. Flavor is roasted up front, with a strong chocolate and mint finish. A rather sweet stout, smells and tastes like a girl scout thin mint. Moderate carbonation and medium light body.

UPDATED: NOV 28, 2013 Special tapping at Avery. The appearance is a very dark brown, with a thick foamy cream colored head. The aroma is of mint chocolate ice cream, very sweet. The taste is very sweet too, chocolate with a mint finish. Medium body with a semi dry finish. Overall a very sweet stout, but good.

Tap. Pours dark brown with average, creamy beige head; decent retention and lacing. Aroma is roasted malts, mint, milk chocolate, dates, faint cherries, and light pepper. Flavor is roast and chocolate malts forward with fresh mint, some dark fruit esters, woody notes, and faint floral hops; dry finish. Medium body and low carbonation.

Pour on tap at the brewery is dark black with thin off white to almost white head, aroma brought big peppermint notes, some roasted dark chocolate and espresso, hints of other roasted malt as well, slight cookie/bread note as well. Taste reminded me of a thin mint, sweet sugary bread and chocolate notes with a big mint and chocolate note, very slight coffee note, finishes fairly sweet. Not bad.

Novelty act. Mint aroma is overwhelming as in you can smell it from several feet away. Worth a sip or two, but only application I see for this would MAYBE be over some vanilla ice cream in a float. Not that the flavors are anathema to the Out of Bounds Stout base, but I don’t know what the point of this beer is, as in why anyone would want to drink more than a sip or two and say...’huh, yeah that is what I was afraid it would taste like.’
