Commercial Description:
Salvation. The name of two intricate Belgian-style ales created by us, Vinnie Cilurzo of Russian River Brewing and Adam Avery of Avery Brewing. After becoming friends a few years ago, we realized that we both had a Salvation in our line-ups. Was it going to be a problem? Should one of us relinquish the rights? "Hell no!" we said. In fact, it was quickly decided that we should blend the brews to catch the best qualities of each and create an even more complex libation. In April 2004, in top-secret meeting at Russian River Brewing (well actually it was packed in the pub, and many were looking over our shoulders wondering what the hell was going on), we came up with the perfect blend of the two Salvations. Natalie, Vinnie’s much more significant other, exclaimed, "We should call this Collaboration, not Litigation Ale!" "Perfect!" we shouted. We celebrated deep into the night, (or is it morning?). Fast forward to November 14, 2006. After talking about it for over 2 years we finally decided to pull the trigger and Vinnie flew out to Avery to brew his Salvation exactly as he does in his brewery. This was blended with Avery’s Salvation December 11th, 2006. We hope you enjoy it as much we enjoyed brewing and blending it.

Pours with half finger head and is clear, but has sediment and decent lacing. Smells of alcohol, yeast, bananas and cinnamon. Has very nice mouthfeel and decent complexity in the initial taste with notes of alcohol. Finishes clean, but with subtle notes of flavor. It is good, and exceptionally drinkable.

Bottle. Poured a hazy orange with very thin white head. Aroma is strong with bread, yeast, and wheat with notes of banana, spice, dark fruits, and a little bit of citrus. The flavor is about the same, but hops kind of stand out when it hits the pallet. Carbonation is a little high, but that’s what I expect from a Belgian-style ale. The finish is bitter and a little dry. I enjoyed this beer.

Bottle shared with Steve. Poured a hazy amber with yeast still floating in it. Great belgian rock candy flavor with malty finish. Also tastes like chewing on yeast (in a good way). I enjoyed this one.

On tap at Boho. Pours a murky golden amber with a big sticky white head. Aroma is fruity with lots of under ripe banana and peach, some clove spiciness and bread. The flavor has a sharp hop bite which is nice, plenty of spice, and again alot of under ripe fruit. Finishes dry and bitter. Medium bodied with moerate to high carbonation.

Golden color with nice head that sticks to the glass. Very smooth belgian yeast flavor with good balance of hops. A bit of spices present with bread like notes. Great collaboration.

Pours a yellow brown with a nice soft white head that very slowly winds down as the beer warms. Definately Belgian style ale, but it does have a lasting bitterness at the end but i also detect a sourness to go along with. Like nothing I have ever had before. The middle is very normal with a cleanliness and sharpness. The end is where it gets a little unusual. Not bad, just unusual

22oz bottle, Batch #3. hazy amber-brown with a medium off-white head. Bright fruity aroma of banana, peach, orange, and pear. There is some clove and sweeter dried fruit as well. The flavor is less expressive, but still nice, with sweet dried fruit, toffee, brown sugar, and light spice. Low bitterness with some lingering sweetness in the finish. medium-full bodied with medium carbonation. The aroma was popping right out of the bottle, but the flavor ended just a bit too vague and sweet to be really great. Nice stuff anyway.
