Commercial Description:
Salvation. The name of two intricate Belgian-style ales created by us, Vinnie Cilurzo of Russian River Brewing and Adam Avery of Avery Brewing. After becoming friends a few years ago, we realized that we both had a Salvation in our line-ups. Was it going to be a problem? Should one of us relinquish the rights? "Hell no!" we said. In fact, it was quickly decided that we should blend the brews to catch the best qualities of each and create an even more complex libation. In April 2004, in top-secret meeting at Russian River Brewing (well actually it was packed in the pub, and many were looking over our shoulders wondering what the hell was going on), we came up with the perfect blend of the two Salvations. Natalie, Vinnie’s much more significant other, exclaimed, "We should call this Collaboration, not Litigation Ale!" "Perfect!" we shouted. We celebrated deep into the night, (or is it morning?). Fast forward to November 14, 2006. After talking about it for over 2 years we finally decided to pull the trigger and Vinnie flew out to Avery to brew his Salvation exactly as he does in his brewery. This was blended with Avery’s Salvation December 11th, 2006. We hope you enjoy it as much we enjoyed brewing and blending it.

22oz bottle, Batch #3. hazy amber-brown with a medium off-white head. Bright fruity aroma of banana, peach, orange, and pear. There is some clove and sweeter dried fruit as well. The flavor is less expressive, but still nice, with sweet dried fruit, toffee, brown sugar, and light spice. Low bitterness with some lingering sweetness in the finish. medium-full bodied with medium carbonation. The aroma was popping right out of the bottle, but the flavor ended just a bit too vague and sweet to be really great. Nice stuff anyway.

On tap at Naked City. Pours cloudy brown amber with a small foamy white head. Smells like a yeasty, slightly nutty Belgian. Candi sugar and spice, with caramel and a little bit of citrus in the taste. Slightly hoppy, slightly funky finish.

Bottle. I am assuming this is the latest batch. Poured a hazy golden brown with a small light tan head. Earth, hay, yeast, banana on the nose. Medium carbonation with a little astringency in the mouthfeel. My first thought goes to the big malt taste then I get hit with a nice tart/sour note. Yeast, tropical fruit, and a hint of spice on the palate. This one is very complex and very good!

Batch #3. Pours slightly cloudy, light-amber, with a medium white head, good lacing. Smells of barley with lots of fruit - banana, citrus, and apple. There are also some caramel and hay notes. Medium-thin, crisp and velvety body. Lots of malt up front, banana bread, and caramel apple. Some pine and citrus bitterness. Well balanced.

Pours a nice hazy brown, with a nice foamy head. Smells of bread, bananas, clove and caramel. Creamy yet pleasantly fizzy mouthfeel. Tastes yeasty, with an almost smoky end.

Style; glass: Belgian Strong, Trappist, Snifter 22 fl oz x 8.72% ABV = 191.84 / 60 = 3.19 beers * 150 C = 478.5 calories (est.) Purchased at: Canal’s Lawrenceville, NJ for $8.99 Avery’s LNC is a Belgian IPA moshpit of flavors, with banana, peach, cloves, and hops all battling, and I’m the winner. It’s a beautiful mixture of flavors, an enjoyable layered voyage.
