Commercial Description:
Salvation. The name of two intricate Belgian-style ales created by us, Vinnie Cilurzo of Russian River Brewing and Adam Avery of Avery Brewing. After becoming friends a few years ago, we realized that we both had a Salvation in our line-ups. Was it going to be a problem? Should one of us relinquish the rights? "Hell no!" we said. In fact, it was quickly decided that we should blend the brews to catch the best qualities of each and create an even more complex libation. In April 2004, in top-secret meeting at Russian River Brewing (well actually it was packed in the pub, and many were looking over our shoulders wondering what the hell was going on), we came up with the perfect blend of the two Salvations. Natalie, Vinnie’s much more significant other, exclaimed, "We should call this Collaboration, not Litigation Ale!" "Perfect!" we shouted. We celebrated deep into the night, (or is it morning?). Fast forward to November 14, 2006. After talking about it for over 2 years we finally decided to pull the trigger and Vinnie flew out to Avery to brew his Salvation exactly as he does in his brewery. This was blended with Avery’s Salvation December 11th, 2006. We hope you enjoy it as much we enjoyed brewing and blending it.

Quite a unique brew. At times it spins a delicious complexity with hop bitterness, caramel, nut, fruit. Other times it’s hot, alcoholic, and oppressive. It should be tried. Not much else to say.

(on bottle)Chestnut red, white head. Sweet and fruity aroma; plums and abricot. Foamy mouth; malty and alcoholic. Not a complex beer, I´m afraid. Heavy, yes, sweet, yes, but it lacks personality in turms of spicies, malted fullness and esters. Especially the finish is disapointing and absent.

Batch #2 pours a copper color with a frothy white head. Aroma of citrus, spice, banana and raisin. Taste of biscuit, lemon, banana and dark fruit. Nice creamy mouthfeel. This is a nice beer and could definitely drink it again.

Shared with the boys for Cellar Reduction #3. Batch 2. Pours cloudy orange with fair white head. Sweet malty nose with a fruity bready yeastiness and alcohol notes. The alcohol is well masked in the flavor but still has a nice warming. Dark rum soaked fruits, candi sugar, yeast. Decent velvety body. I do like the mindset behind this beer.

Bottle with Butters and sixfootsix at the 3rd Cellar Reduction. Batch 2. Pours an off-white head that laces with a honeyed amber body. Smells of dark ripe fruit, malt, and yeast. Tastes the same. Good brew.

22 0z bottle batch 2 bottled 2/08 poured a murky dark amber color with a thin light tan head . aroma has sweet over ripe dark fruit, light yeast, chewy underlying malt, and candy sugar sweetness. mouth feel is a solid medium with low carbonation. flavor has loads of dark ripe fruit, rich complementing malt, high sweetness, and slightly funked fruited yeast. fairly hefty and rich but comes off smooth and well balanced.
