Rune (2760), Tromsø, Norway Oct 1, 2008 Batch 2 – 8.72% ABV. Compact bottle from Ølbutikken, Copenhagen. Attractive clear, dark amber body with a decent, off-white head. Aroma of spiced malts. Candy sweet in flavour, offset by dark fruits and spices. Dry yeast to the finish. Well bodied, though a little out of character (hotel room in Valby, 11.09.2008). explosivebeer (36), Washington, USA Sep 29, 2008 This beer was a hazy light amber color with some residual head. The aroma had figs, raisins, and some alcohol present, along with some typical Belgian characteristics. It’s a little thin on the palate and has quite a bit of carbonation. It finishes solid, but overall, did not live up to its billing. mephisto (1144), Taiwan Sep 27, 2008 purs cloudy amber with a thin layer of beige top. it has caramel aroma and a strong hoppy flavor. ChristianScheffel (4431), Odense, Denmark Sep 27, 2008 Amber with a small white head. Aroma has malt, fruity hops and spice. Dry and spiced flavour to the point of being cloying. Watery thin finish. I like the story better than the beer. Fin (3382), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Sep 27, 2008 Had this at the European Beer Festival Kobenhaven 13-09-08 Really impressive beer really good o get a decent Belgian beer. Pours amber very clean tasting, has white head. Nice soft and spicy in the mouth, good yeastiness, great beer. KnutAlbert (3111), Oslo, Norway Sep 23, 2008 Bottle, EBF, Copenhagen.
Complex beer. Raisins, balsamic vinegar. Belgian yeast profile. Some burned sugar. Very nice! reakt (938), Greater London, England Sep 23, 2008 Bottle @ EBF. Copper with an off white head. Quite malty with sweet caramel, candi sugar, spices, obvious Belgian yeast and a hint of corn. Another slightly thin disappointment from Avery. The quote below, Drinkable - yet very average, about sums it up. Dedollewaitor (3625), Odense, Denmark Sep 23, 2008 75cl bottle @ VinensVerden,Odense. Pours hazy orange with a white head. Nose is sweet & spicy. Quite strong - with some alcohol. Slightly metallic. Sweet & sugary taste with vague vinous notes. Medium bodied. Drinkable - yet very average from Avery!
