mgermani (862), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jun 22, 2008 Pours a cloudy brown light foam & lacing, faint aroma of hops. Tastes very worty - like it was straight from the brewpot! Very raw & fresh tasting, but likewise unrefined. Creamy body, ok carbonation. This needs a bit of aging, but is very promising. Juelze (889), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Jun 21, 2008 Updated: Jun 22, 2008Pours a copper color with mild foamy white head and nice trails of lacing as the beverage is consumed. Aroma is light wild yeast, mild cherry, and dark fruit. You can definitely pick up the Russian River-ness in this beer. Taste is light fruit, wild yeast and Belgian spice. A little bit of coriander and orange peel seem to appear in the finish. Palate is a bit dry but nothing over the top. Overall, it’s well done and enjoyable. Petrucci914 (574), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Jun 21, 2008 Pours a syrupy copper color with some particulate. There is a small/medium frothy white head that leaves webs of streaky lacing. Aroma is very spicy, coriander, caramel, orange peel, and some dark fruit. Taste is about the same. It looks like it’d have a totally different flavor for the rich coloring it has. Decent. Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA Jun 21, 2008 Pours a hazy burnt orange with a creamy, off-white head and fine, suspended sediment. The nose is of sweet, fruity Belgian yeast and accompanying notes of dehydrated fruit and candy sugar. Medium-bodied and grainy with a lightly funky, dry finish. Sweet, fruity, woody, lightly funky and dry with a touch of alcohol at the end. It possesses a really subtle/muted brett quality that I’ve never really encountered in another beer. It’s certainly playing a supporting role versus the dominant role it plays in so many other beers. This is a decent enough brew, but I can’t say that I am entirely impressed with how this blend came together. Now I’ll have to try both of the Salvations to see if the parts are better than the sum. mreusch (714), Olathe, Kansas, USA Jun 17, 2008 22oz. bomber, Batch 2, with thanks to Gregis for sharing! Pours a clear amber with floating tiny particles and a one finger white head, moderate lacing. Aroma is dried banana, spice, sweet candied fruits, and some caramel. Flavor is sweeter as well, with more dried banana, spice and candied fruits. Not bad or anything, but the candied fruits, banana and spice combination does do much for me here. Thanks again for sharing Greg! OldGrowth (1405), North Carolina, USA Jun 16, 2008 bottle, from IHartbeer, bottled on Jan 07, consumed 06/08. Sweet aroma, Spice, coriander, cinnamon, wet autumn leaves, caramel, plum, raisin. Dark orangy brown color, big head, faded slowly. Sweet bitter flavor. Initial sweetness, mild sugary sweet, banana, followed by a citrusy bitter bite. paper/cardboard. Medium body, lite creamy mouthfeel, bitter sweet finish. Tasty, thought aroma was a tad weak, flavor had some nice nuances. Overall it didn’t leave me wanting another. wickedpete (625), Lexington Park, Maryland, USA Jun 14, 2008 Dark gold to amber color body with a steady layer of white head. Biscuity, yeasty, citrus zest, and a touch of caramel in the aroma. Flavor is peppery, also come caramel, brown sugar, a strange vegetable quality. Light, pretty easy to drink but not memorable. pantanap (1322), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 14, 2008 22oz bottle (first batch)....a murky caramel brown pour with a moderate sized white to slightly off-white head....biscuity malt and caramel are most apparent in the aroma along with some subtle yeast and dark fruit notes......dark fruits, grapes, and sugar combine in the flavor profile. a very decent palate accentuated by a light level of carbonation and a fluffy mouthfeel that coats the mouth.
