Commercial Description:
Salvation. The name of two intricate Belgian-style ales created by us, Vinnie Cilurzo of Russian River Brewing and Adam Avery of Avery Brewing. After becoming friends a few years ago, we realized that we both had a Salvation in our line-ups. Was it going to be a problem? Should one of us relinquish the rights? "Hell no!" we said. In fact, it was quickly decided that we should blend the brews to catch the best qualities of each and create an even more complex libation. In April 2004, in top-secret meeting at Russian River Brewing (well actually it was packed in the pub, and many were looking over our shoulders wondering what the hell was going on), we came up with the perfect blend of the two Salvations. Natalie, Vinnie’s much more significant other, exclaimed, "We should call this Collaboration, not Litigation Ale!" "Perfect!" we shouted. We celebrated deep into the night, (or is it morning?). Fast forward to November 14, 2006. After talking about it for over 2 years we finally decided to pull the trigger and Vinnie flew out to Avery to brew his Salvation exactly as he does in his brewery. This was blended with Avery’s Salvation December 11th, 2006. We hope you enjoy it as much we enjoyed brewing and blending it.

20080604 Bomber. I’ve been sitting on this one for a while assuming it would need time to cool off like so many Avery beers. Hazy dark caramel color with lasting, creamy beige head. Aroma is fruity and yeasty with strong cooked apple and raisin notes and hints of savory spice reminding of wintery pies being baked in the distance. Nice creamy mouthfeel with only light prickly carbonation breaking up what might be otherwise a bit unctuous as it does have a coating feel on the lips. The flavors are pretty standard for a solid Belgian inspired strong brown ale, with fruit and spice to mirror the aromas, a touch of ripe fruits, plum, apple, pear, raisin. Good all around stuff that, for the price, is a fair replacement for some of the Belgian equivalents. Certainly one of the nicest and most mild Avery bombers I’ve tried.

2007 (batch 1) bottle sampled May ’08.

Pours a rich brown with a nice head. Lovely caramel-meets-fruity tripel aroma and a flavor that follows. Ample carbonation provides a light spritzy mouthfeel that hides the 9% abv. Ahhh...very nice beer, a really pleasant surprise from one that I’d had relatively low expectations for.

On tap - Capone’s - May 2008 - Medium strong belgian sugar, yeast and maybe a slight medicinal note aroma. Ruddy brown with hints of red in the glass. Somewhat candy-like in flavor, but with a definite american hop profile that helps cut the sugary flavors. However, I don’t think the hops used mix well with the belgian characteristics as good as they could.

Pours murky copper/peach with a small head. Aroma is a combination of Belgian yeast and spicy hops. Mouth feel is pretty thick with a small amount of carbonation. Flavor is sweet fruit with banana and citrus followed by hop and alcohol. An interesting and tasty beer.

Pours a medium copper with a thin head that laces my glass. Aroma is clove and banana, as well is the taste. This beer dances all over my tounge, it’s hard for me to describe the taste other than saying, "yummmmmmmm." Just the right body, lots of flavor, I love this stuff.

The color was hazy amber with light sediment. The head was creamy, white, and laced some. The aroma was citris, dark fruit, sweet, and yeast. The flavor was yeast, dark fruit, alcohol, and hops. The palate was lively. The finish was warm.
