Commercial Description:
Salvation. The name of two intricate Belgian-style ales created by us, Vinnie Cilurzo of Russian River Brewing and Adam Avery of Avery Brewing. After becoming friends a few years ago, we realized that we both had a Salvation in our line-ups. Was it going to be a problem? Should one of us relinquish the rights? "Hell no!" we said. In fact, it was quickly decided that we should blend the brews to catch the best qualities of each and create an even more complex libation. In April 2004, in top-secret meeting at Russian River Brewing (well actually it was packed in the pub, and many were looking over our shoulders wondering what the hell was going on), we came up with the perfect blend of the two Salvations. Natalie, Vinnie’s much more significant other, exclaimed, "We should call this Collaboration, not Litigation Ale!" "Perfect!" we shouted. We celebrated deep into the night, (or is it morning?). Fast forward to November 14, 2006. After talking about it for over 2 years we finally decided to pull the trigger and Vinnie flew out to Avery to brew his Salvation exactly as he does in his brewery. This was blended with Avery’s Salvation December 11th, 2006. We hope you enjoy it as much we enjoyed brewing and blending it.

Bomber. Pours a murky brown with a 2 finger creamy off white head. Nose is brown sugar, malt and peppery spice. Palate is dark fruits, cloves and pepper, with a semi-sweet hoppy finish. Medium mouth feel. Nice lacing. Decent strong ale.

A decent, if not predictable Belgian strong. Typical aroma of yeast, brown sugar and dark fruit. Pour was a decent semi clear light brown with a one 2 finger off white head.Taste was as the aroma suggested. Fruity and yeasty with a sweet sugary aftertaste. Not very much carbonation which hurts it for me. As it warms the dark fruit and caramel come out more. Hides the alky content wonderfully.

On tap at Trappeze. Appearance is brown with a tan head. Aroma of fruit, sugar and sweet malt and some light yeast. Taste is a little more sweet with some fruit. Body is full and mouth is smooth. Finishes with plenty of sweetness.

Batch 2, 22oz bottle served in a chalice. Poured a hazy amber/gold with a thin off white head. Clove spiciness and some burnt sugar in the aroma. Medium bodied with some malt sweetness. Nice spicy flavor, a slight mustiness in the finish. A slight hop bitterness. Very drinkable and enjoyable to me. Nothing mind blowing however.

Tap. Murky brown with a huge white head. Yeasty Belgian nose with lots of fruit. Flavor is full of banana, yeast and subtle peppery spice. Bit of brown sugar. Strong alcohol presence. Very nice and sweet. Excellent.

Bottle pours orange/amber with nice off white head. Good carbination. Definately recommend letting this one sit a while, or at least let it warm up a bit as flavors become more pronounced. Bannana, yeast, and spice aroma. Leaves a smooth silky feeling in your mouth with a nice bite at the end. A nice sipping beer at the end of the night.

Beer pours a amber cooper color. The head is a bright white with a fine texture. The beer lacks any real lacing. The nose is very fruity smelling of stone fruit and spice. The front of the taste is very spicy with a mix of sweet fruit. The finish is a mix of spice and plums.

Courtesy of Yngwie and Gunnfryd. Orange-red with a nice, creamy head. The aroma has sweetness, notes of dark, dried fruits and roasted malt. The flavour has sweetness, notes of malt, caramel, dark fruits, hints of yeast and a light, dry citrus bitterness. It’s nice.
