Commercial Description:
Salvation. The name of two intricate Belgian-style ales created by us, Vinnie Cilurzo of Russian River Brewing and Adam Avery of Avery Brewing. After becoming friends a few years ago, we realized that we both had a Salvation in our line-ups. Was it going to be a problem? Should one of us relinquish the rights? "Hell no!" we said. In fact, it was quickly decided that we should blend the brews to catch the best qualities of each and create an even more complex libation. In April 2004, in top-secret meeting at Russian River Brewing (well actually it was packed in the pub, and many were looking over our shoulders wondering what the hell was going on), we came up with the perfect blend of the two Salvations. Natalie, Vinnie’s much more significant other, exclaimed, "We should call this Collaboration, not Litigation Ale!" "Perfect!" we shouted. We celebrated deep into the night, (or is it morning?). Fast forward to November 14, 2006. After talking about it for over 2 years we finally decided to pull the trigger and Vinnie flew out to Avery to brew his Salvation exactly as he does in his brewery. This was blended with Avery’s Salvation December 11th, 2006. We hope you enjoy it as much we enjoyed brewing and blending it.

Pour is a amber with a small white head. Aroma has yeast, corriander and allspice. Flavor is much of the same with some sweet candi sugar with a bit of spice and yeast. Finish is dry and a little fruity. Tasty enough but not mind blowing and good enough to try at least once.

This beer was not near as good as I wanted it to be. Has an orange taste that ends with the tastes of it going rotten in your mouth. Not very good, wont get it again.

Bottle Batch 2. Aroma of yeast. Color is hazy orange. Taste of yeast, yeast and yeast. Almost like rotten fruit, not a bad thing though. I like the story behind it, very cool.

Poured a golden copper color. A medium white head. Orange peel taste with a good dose of sugar. Sweet and malt flavors. A good blend of the flavors. Nose has some spices with citrus. Really decent pick up.

Poured from a 22oz bottle (Bottled in January 2007) and served in a tulip. This beer poured a hazy, ruddy amber color with a thin, creamy, lasting head. Very nice lacing. The aroma of the beer was made up of caramel, candi sugar, fresh citrus, and also some bread dough. The flavor included grapefruit and spicy citrus, caramel, and also some mild dark fruit in the finish. The mouthfeel was medium to full-bodied with light carbonation. Not a bad drink, but it lacked complexity with the combonation of caramel and citrus dominating the flavor at times.

On tap@OBrien’s: Dark ice tea amber color with a wisp of off white head in the form of a halo. Smokey caramel sweet and over ripe fruit nose. Flavor starts rich caramel followed by cherry candy and ripe fruit syrup (apricot, peach). Medium body is smooth with moderate carbonation. A little overly sweet for my taste, but a good blend.
