Commercial Description:
Salvation. The name of two intricate Belgian-style ales created by us, Vinnie Cilurzo of Russian River Brewing and Adam Avery of Avery Brewing. After becoming friends a few years ago, we realized that we both had a Salvation in our line-ups. Was it going to be a problem? Should one of us relinquish the rights? "Hell no!" we said. In fact, it was quickly decided that we should blend the brews to catch the best qualities of each and create an even more complex libation. In April 2004, in top-secret meeting at Russian River Brewing (well actually it was packed in the pub, and many were looking over our shoulders wondering what the hell was going on), we came up with the perfect blend of the two Salvations. Natalie, Vinnie’s much more significant other, exclaimed, "We should call this Collaboration, not Litigation Ale!" "Perfect!" we shouted. We celebrated deep into the night, (or is it morning?). Fast forward to November 14, 2006. After talking about it for over 2 years we finally decided to pull the trigger and Vinnie flew out to Avery to brew his Salvation exactly as he does in his brewery. This was blended with Avery’s Salvation December 11th, 2006. We hope you enjoy it as much we enjoyed brewing and blending it.

Hazy dark mahogany hue, with a frothy tan-colored head, yeasty, spicy, fruity peachy nose, with some sweet toasted, caramelized malts, cookie dough, with a nice nutmeg, clove and coriander spicy accent, with some candy sugar in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, fruity, peachy, orange peel , toasty character, with a bready dough note, some spicy clove and coriander, with a sweet smooth alcoholic mouthfeel, leading towards a malty, faint hop bitterness finish.

22oz bomber. Good strong beer, packed with flavor wish it could be a bit more bitter. Pours a dark copper red with large tan head. Smells very sweet and taste is a bit sour. Not bad.

Draught at Akkurat, Stokholm. Sweet malty and hoppy aroma. Vinous and fruity flavour with a lot of hoppiness.

Hazy ruby brown with nice foamy head and good lacing. Wow, nice scents here. Distant wheaty and yeasty scents emerge as well as funky fruit and spice/fruit notes. Very tasty; A warm spicy flavor with banana, vanilla and yeast quality, well balanced and complex. high alcohol, but not recognizeable except in a slight and enjoyable warmth from the taste. I was pleased from the very first sip and enjoyed throughout the enitre session. A great brew.

This American Belgian poured (from a 22 oz. bottle from January 2007) very smooth, as is with the traditional strong Belgian, in an amber hue. I will then reference ’MartinT’s bottom line’ with: ’Brown sugar allusions and bready maltiness tiptoe around the toasty and roasty notes in this delicately spicy and sweet Belgian Strong Ale.’ Definately shouldn’t be missed if you can grab one.

What a Fantastic brew. Nice tight head, Great flowery aroma, and a complex but smooth taste, from star to finish. See what great things can develop if we all just get along!

22 ounce bottle from, uh, somewhere in the midwest, Spring 2007 I’d guess, sampled at cellar temperature from a Chouffe tulip. The immense soft off-white small-bubbled head overflows the glass despite my (admittedly drunken) attempts to keep it from doing so, filling over 2/3 of the glass and slowly settling into a small cap with some chunky lacing atop the translucent/hazy light caramel body....faint fruity-caramel accented aroma, a touch of tart apple, perhaps some pear and cherry, nothing special....lightly mineralic and pungent character to the mostly-sweet body, fairly full but already beginning to fade after less than a year in the bottle, slightly cardboardy or papery to finish....don’t get me wrong, this is quite drinkable and has no gigantic flaws, but for me anyway it’s pretty dull and I’d have to say reads as less than the sum of its parts.

Upon its dismissal from the 22 ounce bottle, the beer shows off a creamy light tan head that piles high on the mahogany body, after its disappearance, the lacing forms a tight sheet to obscure the glass. Nose is a conglomeration of aromas, sweet malt, bread dough, port wine, cotton candy, caramel, and spices, clove I think. Start has a deep malt sweetness, some alcohol bitterness at the back with the top moderate in feel. Finish has a personable hop spiciness, acidity tolerable, and the aftertaste dry. Magnificent beer, as “Belgian Strong(s)” are my favorite style, this was a most enjoyable beer.
