bblack99 (196), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Jul 31, 2009 Batch 2 bottle pours a murky copper with a thin head of small, loosely-packed off-white bubbles.
Complex aroma of pumpkin, spice, banana, and lots of sweet malt. Creamy texture brings the malty flavor with a bit of yeast, a slight hoppy twang, and a touch of the ~9% ABV, but somewhat falls apart in the finish, becoming weaker and a bit unfocused.
As others have said, good but nothing too special, and not exactly what I picture from a strong Belgian. markwise (1132), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA Jul 30, 2009 On tap @ Brass Tap Wesley Chapel. Pours gold with a soapy off-white head. Nose is sweet malt, orange, citrus, spice, raw honey, and some pepper. Smooth with lingering sweet malt. Medium to light bodied and nice occasional beer. TampaBrew (746), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 26, 2009 On tap at the Brass Tap. Poured a deep brown with ruby notes. Nose was sweet malt, earthy hops, spices, flowers, dark fruit. Flavor is a smooth combo of sweet thick roasty malts, floral hops, spices, candy and yeast. Real nice! coyotehunter (542), , Michigan, USA Jul 24, 2009 Bomber thanks to Soonah. Pours a cloudy orange with a fluffy two finger head. Aroma is of some horse barn, some pancake, a little dirt, and some spice such as coriander. Flavor follows suit with the addition of some caramel malt, brown sugar and some apple. Palate is borderline cloying...there is something funky about this beer I cant lay a finger on....but theres something off...light alcohol presence as well. Not bad, but a touch of strange there. Bhops (329), Dallas, Texas, USA Jul 24, 2009 Beer was a good. Nice belgian strong ale. Poured amber brown with thinnish head. Very sugary malty smell, some hops underneath. Flavor is quite nice. Typical fruit, some alcohol. Good brew. Savvy1982 (303), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada Jul 21, 2009 Bottle from my trip to Whitefish. Pours dark toffee/amber with a thin white head and spotty lacing. Nose is very malty, little ester for a Belgian Strong Ale, pancakes and caramel, maple, toffee, nuts, malty as anything. Hops are present and well-integrated, shows a very floral note that I’m calling lilies. Flavors of candied malt, perfume/rosewater, biscuit, soft red fruit, gets fruitier as it warms, hoppier too. Seems to be more English/German influenced than Belgian. Very odd but very nice. hobbersr (393), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada Jul 21, 2009 Pours a golden yellow with brown highlights. Small white head with little lacing. Aroma smells like breakfast. Pancakes, and pancake syrup, biscuits, oranges and spice. Not overly Belgian on the nose, in fact there was hardly any esters at all. This tastes like an ESBelgian. Marris Otter??? Biscuit, dandelion, pancake syrup, spice hops and caramel. Carbonation is nice. Weird mesh of styles. But nice beer. shortamdstout (3), Alabama, USA does not count Jul 18, 2009 loved this brew a great combo of two great beers, nothing bad i can find with this.
