Commercial Description:
Salvation. The name of two intricate Belgian-style ales created by us, Vinnie Cilurzo of Russian River Brewing and Adam Avery of Avery Brewing. After becoming friends a few years ago, we realized that we both had a Salvation in our line-ups. Was it going to be a problem? Should one of us relinquish the rights? "Hell no!" we said. In fact, it was quickly decided that we should blend the brews to catch the best qualities of each and create an even more complex libation. In April 2004, in top-secret meeting at Russian River Brewing (well actually it was packed in the pub, and many were looking over our shoulders wondering what the hell was going on), we came up with the perfect blend of the two Salvations. Natalie, Vinnie’s much more significant other, exclaimed, "We should call this Collaboration, not Litigation Ale!" "Perfect!" we shouted. We celebrated deep into the night, (or is it morning?). Fast forward to November 14, 2006. After talking about it for over 2 years we finally decided to pull the trigger and Vinnie flew out to Avery to brew his Salvation exactly as he does in his brewery. This was blended with Avery’s Salvation December 11th, 2006. We hope you enjoy it as much we enjoyed brewing and blending it.

Nice brown-amber pour, light head lingering, aroma is enticing sweet malt with candi and spice, alcohol wafting up into your sinus cavities. Fruity sweet malty flavors give way to yeasty esters and warming with a bitter finish. Overall this is a hit with me, my kind of Belgian style strong. Very nice.

Bottle at Mekong on 03/21/2009. Batch #3 bottled Feb 2009. Cloudy amber body with a small creamy off-white head. Sweet banana, clove, light caramel, fruit and light grain aroma. Sweet clove flavor with faint banana, spice, and light caramel. Medium body with moderately high carbonation. 7/4/8/3/15 - 3.7 09/05/2007: Shared with Kinz for an impromptu tasting. Really glad to get to try this, thanks to maniac for this one. Medium towards dark amber with red, slight head, some floaties probably from my bad pour. Big spicy nose with a faint roasty note. Thick caramel malt flavor with Belgian spice yeast in the background and a drying bitterness on the finish. Really good.

opaque dark amber, fine lasting beige head, drippy lace, sweet caramel aroma with a nice funky edge, sweet caramel and cherry flavor with a sharp tart edge and complex character from plan nine, cherry pit tartness and woody edge,

dry oak and dark caramel aroma, very creamy melding of the flavors taking off the tart edge seen before, stilll the nice woody character but much more mellow and only a possible hint of any cherry tartness, different beer or from a different barrel

followup to having each of the salvations, retains the citrus from the avery and a bit of the fruityness from the russian river, although tasty the parts are greated than the sum

1 Pint 9 oz (Bottled in Jan. 2007) - Pours a caramel-brown/orange color with particles and bubbles - and great, long-lasting head (also good lacing). Aroma is malt, hops, fruit, caramel, spice and yeast. Taste is amlt, slight hops, wood, earth, caramel, banana, spice, and other fruits (Alcohol comes out a bit as it warms - but still well disguised for 9%). Mouthfeel - Medium to heavy-bodied, tangy, surprisingly thick and a little dryness in the aftertaste. Complex and Good.

22 ounce bottle purchased at Monument Wine and Liquors. Aroma is yeasty, estery, banana like with plenty of burnt notes present. Caramel malts also make an appearance with an omnipresent ethanolic aroma. Virtually transparent amber body with a small-medium light tan head, Mild lacing. Mildly tart, lightly astringent start, which becomes roasted, caramelly, burnt, and heavily malty. Chewy, lightly hopped. Light ethanol late. Kind of tastes a little like a quad. The roasty, diacetyl, maltiness is a bit cloying as time goes on.

Bottle from Total Wine. Pours dark caramel-amber with 2 cm. of tan head. Subtle yeast, sour apple, and musty oak in the nose. Tastes include more wood, caramel, slight sour yeast, and crisp red apple in the finish. Subtle astringentness in the finish as well. Astringentness? Anyway, soft/medium carbonation and full-bodied with a rounded palate. Refreshing.
