Commercial Description:
Salvation. The name of two intricate Belgian-style ales created by us, Vinnie Cilurzo of Russian River Brewing and Adam Avery of Avery Brewing. After becoming friends a few years ago, we realized that we both had a Salvation in our line-ups. Was it going to be a problem? Should one of us relinquish the rights? "Hell no!" we said. In fact, it was quickly decided that we should blend the brews to catch the best qualities of each and create an even more complex libation. In April 2004, in top-secret meeting at Russian River Brewing (well actually it was packed in the pub, and many were looking over our shoulders wondering what the hell was going on), we came up with the perfect blend of the two Salvations. Natalie, Vinnie’s much more significant other, exclaimed, "We should call this Collaboration, not Litigation Ale!" "Perfect!" we shouted. We celebrated deep into the night, (or is it morning?). Fast forward to November 14, 2006. After talking about it for over 2 years we finally decided to pull the trigger and Vinnie flew out to Avery to brew his Salvation exactly as he does in his brewery. This was blended with Avery’s Salvation December 11th, 2006. We hope you enjoy it as much we enjoyed brewing and blending it.

Amber colored with a nice head. Belgian style ale. Sweet smell and strong fruity tastes. Different fruits come through in the taste and smell. I liked it but not as much as I thought I would.

Colaboration 08 Dark straw pour whispy white head murky viz carb. Awesome spiced aroma, cloves, white pepper, some light bread, complex i’m missing some spices here, hint of grass came in. Full well coated creamy pal. Tastes well spiced lots of white pepper, corrainder, lemon zest, bread, honey, sweetness beyond that hints of almost a maple syrup after the spice finishes w/ a dry grass and oak very cleanly. Awesome beer.

Hazy dark amber with a medium off white head. Aroma is sweet malts, candi sugar, light notes of spice, lightly bready. Taste is moderately sweet with caramel, spices, candi sugar, lightly bready yeast..finish is lightly sweet and spicy. Body is medium, and so is the carbonation.

This was called a porter at the bar and the brewers themselves call this a belgian strong ale, but it looks, smells, and tastes like an Old Ale to me. Red amber, melanoidin malt color with decent head. Deep cherry port and wood aromas tantalize. Flavor is full of rounded port, and cherry and wood. Seems mellowed and well aged. Wonderful complexity. Truly top-notch.

Dark and hazy coppery brown, thick creamy light tan head. A soft rich and complex nose steps forth with notes of plum, fig, and peppery hops. Underlying tone hints at wood, banana, and brett. Flavor has plenty of dark fruity notes, touches of banana again, and final kick of spicy hops in the end. Nicely balanced throughout. Full bodied, medium carbonation and smooth, light bittersweet finish. Very well done. Cheers to Collaborations....

Draft at O’Brien’s. Dark pour with a huge creamy white head. Lots of dark fruit and nutty aromas. The flavor was similar with a flavor similar to what I remember from the Russian River. Unfortunately, I have not had the Avery yet, but no doubt it was in there. Not bad really.

Bottle at the Knoxville Spring(ish) tasting. Pours on the red side of copper. The aroma is clove, corriander, alcohol, and toast. The texture is not particularly what I want from the style. The alcohol is apparent in the taste, giving it a bit of a nasal kick. Otherwise there is a bit of toasty malt, some spices, and a light nutty bitterness toward the finish. Decent, but too obviously a blend.
