3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
3/29/16. 22oz bottle from Five Points. $1.99 on the clearance rack. Bottle says Batch #8, bottled Jan. 2015. I’m actually surprised I’ve never rated this... I have walked by this bottle a hundred times. I guess a $2 price tag finally sold me. Clear amber red pour under a nice khaki head, mild lacing. Rich, dark fruits aroma, loads of em, with dark sugars and toast. Big caramel flavor, loads of dark fruits, raspberry candy, toast, biscuit. Surprisingly smooth and easy drinking for the ABV. Perhaps the age helps? Not bad!

It was just ok. I found it tasted rather pedestrian. Not bad, but not terribly interesting.

Poured from a bottle - batch # 8. Pours a medium cloudy caramel brown with a huge white foamy head. Semi sweet spice and biscuit aroma. Smooth semi thick texture with a light spicy taste. Notes of toffee. Hides the alcohol well. Flavors are not as bold as I had expected. Ok but not great.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Smooth and sweet on the palate with its caramel malt and subtle plum and raisin character above slight undertones of molasses. Moderately hoppy, finishing on a bread note that feels a bit thin. Heat covered well.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Smell is a mix between dark fruits and malty sweetness but light either way, taste is sweet and smooth, little too sweet...very low hops, just like an over sugary drink...not much else to say...Slight alcohol burn....reminds me of chimay grande reserve...warm finish...a sipping beer

Batch #8. Pours a clear copper color, with white head. Aroma of sugar and dried fruits. Taste of a Belgian, with the classic candied fruits, yeast, and hoppiness. Nice complexity. A solid Belgian ale. Thumbs up.
