COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Salvation. The name of two intricate Belgian-style ales created by us, Vinnie Cilurzo of Russian River Brewing and Adam Avery of Avery Brewing. After becoming friends a few years ago, we realized that we both had a Salvation in our line-ups. Was it going to be a problem? Should one of us relinquish the rights? "Hell no!" we said. In fact, it was quickly decided that we should blend the brews to catch the best qualities of each and create an even more complex libation. In April 2004, in top-secret meeting at Russian River Brewing (well actually it was packed in the pub, and many were looking over our shoulders wondering what the hell was going on), we came up with the perfect blend of the two Salvations. Natalie, Vinnie’s much more significant other, exclaimed, "We should call this Collaboration, not Litigation Ale!" "Perfect!" we shouted. We celebrated deep into the night, (or is it morning?). Fast forward to November 14, 2006. After talking about it for over 2 years we finally decided to pull the trigger and Vinnie flew out to Avery to brew his Salvation exactly as he does in his brewery. This was blended with Avery’s Salvation December 11th, 2006. We hope you enjoy it as much we enjoyed brewing and blending it.

On tap served in a tulip glass A - Pours a murky amber orange color with a fleeting off white cap. Mild lacing S - Roasted toffee/caramel, yeasty, cloves, dates, golden raisins, orange tea, smells pretty sweet. T - Sweet toffee malts, caramelized brown sugar, cloves, nutmeg, sugary dates, raisins, red delicious apples. Has a strong orange tea flavor that really stands out. Stone fruit mixes in well with the caramelized malts. Some peppery bitterness starts to build riding through to the finish. M - Medium to full body but thins out as it sets, low carbonation, smoother feel. A well blended brew that went down smooth. Not as good as I was expecting but still good. Glad I got to try it on tap though. Serving type: on-tap 03-13-2013

Bomber (2015 bottling, says Batch #8 on label... so.... somebody’s math must be wrong going by the list above). Pours a dark amber, frothy whitish head with very nice retention and lacing. Nose is Belgiany funk, bread dough, slight clove, biscuit, raisins, grass. Mouth is medium bodied, light sweetness, mild funky yeast, dried fruit (figs, dates, raisins), hints of vanilla, white pepper. Mellow finish. Very nice beer for a frigid Midwestern evening, watching the Hawks and Wild on the tube.

Poured out of a bomber. Nice rusty copper color, nice lasting head. Nicely complex. With beautiful smoothness. Nice heavy alcohol finish.

Batch 8. Bomber poured a clear deep caramel hue w/ a medium creamy beige head diminishing to a ring w/ lacing. Sweet Belgian yeast and caramel aromas. Initial flavor is moderate sweet w/ a light bitter finish. Tastes are Belgian yeast, caramelized sugar, malt, banana and clove. Full bodied and soft carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Batch #6. Collaboration not Litigation is a somewhat hazy red brown beer with a decent head of white bubbles that disappears rather quickly. Nose is similar to red wine with some dark stone fruit aspects. Taste is vaguely raisin like with some definite natural fruit aspects that overlay a nice malt body. the texture is somewhat lively but not overly so. Medium thin. finishes just a bit warm but without any bitterness.

Batch #8 (Vintage 2015): This pours a deep amber-walnut into the glass, with a 2-finger eggshell head that reduces to a thin cap, leaving window-wash lacing. The nose is of dark esters, alcohol, woody notes, light whiskey and citrus skins. Flavors of caramel and toffee, heavy wooden casks, extremely light diacetyl notes, dark fruits, yeasty esters, figs, raisins and dates finish with a dark fruit skin and balancing bitter, alongside a touch of warming ABV. The rich, full body tingles the palate with alcohol, while leaving an oily mouthfeel to sip, with light carbonation perfect for an aperitif or a nightcap. Really nice collaboration of 2 breweries here.

Batch 8. Deep amber with a small, frothy beige head. The aroma is strong. Lots of banana and stone fruit esters, with some nice caramelized Belgian sugars, and a bit of spice notes and in there too. The flavor is significantly more earthy, with some red grapes, and a bit more banana and clove, as well as some peppery alcohol. The finish is fairly dry. Not bad.

Bomber of batch 7, pours a dark Amber with a large khaki head. Fruity caramel aroma, canned mandarin oranges. Taste of not sweet caramel, dates, light yeast. Really it tastes like watered down Russian River Salvation. Love the story behind the brew, and not undrinkable, but give me the RR version.

bottle @ Party Source / Bellevue KY --- Clear amber brown color, beige head cover, stripes of lace. Taste is malt and toffee that adds dark fruit and damp earth in the palate. It turns mildly bitter in the finish, quickly putting alcohol warmth on top of the hops. Alcohol rules the finish. A big brew, well-balanced, and enjoyable.
