Commercial Description:
Salvation. The name of two intricate Belgian-style ales created by us, Vinnie Cilurzo of Russian River Brewing and Adam Avery of Avery Brewing. After becoming friends a few years ago, we realized that we both had a Salvation in our line-ups. Was it going to be a problem? Should one of us relinquish the rights? "Hell no!" we said. In fact, it was quickly decided that we should blend the brews to catch the best qualities of each and create an even more complex libation. In April 2004, in top-secret meeting at Russian River Brewing (well actually it was packed in the pub, and many were looking over our shoulders wondering what the hell was going on), we came up with the perfect blend of the two Salvations. Natalie, Vinnie's much more significant other, exclaimed, "We should call this Collaboration, not Litigation Ale!" "Perfect!" we shouted. We celebrated deep into the night, (or is it morning?). Fast forward to November 14, 2006. After talking about it for over 2 years we finally decided to pull the trigger and Vinnie flew out to Avery to brew his Salvation exactly as he does in his brewery. This was blended with Avery's Salvation December 11th, 2006. We hope you enjoy it as much we enjoyed brewing and blending it.

Batch 1 (January 2007) - 8.99% ABV
Batch 2 (February 2008) - 8.72% ABV

Now this is why I love the craft brew scene. Both of these ales are great seperately, but put them together and something magical happens. Pours nice and murky. Has the dark fruits and spices that you would expect from a Belgian interpretation, but there’s something different about it that’s just hard to put my finger on. Nice flavor that stays in your mouth for quite awhile.

Bottled in February 2008. Batch #2 - 1.076 O.G. and 8.72% ABV. Brown bodied with a small tan head. Aroma of slightly tart fruit, Belgian yeast, dusty cocoa, dark fruits, and sweet malts. Taste is more sweet malts, touches of caramel, cherries, lightly tart fruit, Belgian yeast and more cocoa. Palate is very soft and creamy. Medium overall with a dense carbonation. Finishes with more dark fruits, mainly cherry and raisin, caramel, sweet malts, and yeast notes. More powdery cocoa here as well. Rather tasty!

22 fl oz bottle. Pours almost clear golden orange with a lacing tan head. Aroma is dense hoppy with mild spice notes and seem rather dry. Medium sweet caramel malty base flavour with a solid hoppy fruity flavour on top. Mild wooden notes and lending towards a more spiced palate. Mild spiced finish with a little bite and alcohol warmth.

Pours deep brown with an amber hue and a small fizzy white head. Semi-sweet malty aroma with a hint piny hops. Flavor is as expected from the aroma. Lightly sweet malts with some piny hop overtones. Kinda middle of the road overall, a bit over-hopped for the style.
