Commercial Description:
Salvation. The name of two intricate Belgian-style ales created by us, Vinnie Cilurzo of Russian River Brewing and Adam Avery of Avery Brewing. After becoming friends a few years ago, we realized that we both had a Salvation in our line-ups. Was it going to be a problem? Should one of us relinquish the rights? "Hell no!" we said. In fact, it was quickly decided that we should blend the brews to catch the best qualities of each and create an even more complex libation. In April 2004, in top-secret meeting at Russian River Brewing (well actually it was packed in the pub, and many were looking over our shoulders wondering what the hell was going on), we came up with the perfect blend of the two Salvations. Natalie, Vinnie's much more significant other, exclaimed, "We should call this Collaboration, not Litigation Ale!" "Perfect!" we shouted. We celebrated deep into the night, (or is it morning?). Fast forward to November 14, 2006. After talking about it for over 2 years we finally decided to pull the trigger and Vinnie flew out to Avery to brew his Salvation exactly as he does in his brewery. This was blended with Avery's Salvation December 11th, 2006. We hope you enjoy it as much we enjoyed brewing and blending it.

A decent, if not predictable Belgian strong. Typical aroma of yeast, brown sugar and dark fruit. Pour was a decent semi clear light brown with a one 2 finger off white head.Taste was as the aroma suggested. Fruity and yeasty with a sweet sugary aftertaste. Not very much carbonation which hurts it for me. As it warms the dark fruit and caramel come out more. Hides the alky content wonderfully.

Pours a cloudy amber color with a thin off white head and leaves some laceing along the sides of the glass. The nose is very spicy with a semi sweet finish. As you take sip it is very bready with sweet tartness that sticks on your palate nicely and leaves a lasting impression. I personally enjoy the spice you can really taste it on the tip of your tounge. The finish is sweet and has a nice hop bitterness that rounds out the beer making it very refreshing.

Pours a murky orange-hued brown colour with a dense cream coloured head that reatains very and has bubble sizes from fine to large. The nose is ripe with clove/banana, brown sugar, estery apple notes, caramel, possibly candi sugar, spicy yeast and aromatic Belgian malts. The flavour is very malty and sweet, with a strong banana/clove presence, peppery spice, alcohol, bready malts, cocoa and aromatic low-alpha hops. The palate is silken and almost devoid of carbonation, which actually works nicely with this beer. there is a mild cider-like flavour beneath this already complex brew. It leaves a nice warming of the chest and the palate duration is rather long.

Another impressive high gravity beer from Avery. This is a typical belgian style ale but it was very smooth and didnt have much of a kick you in the face alcohol feel like soo many other belgians, great beer.

Bottle.Dark amber pour with a small tan head that didnt last long. Aroma is of sweet dates and some sweet fruit. Spicy aroma as well. Pretty good mouthfeel on this one. Nice malty sweetness with a nice warming aftertaste. Very sweet and enjoyable.

22oz. bomber: This one pours a darker orangish/amber color. There was a full tan head on it when first poured, but it drops off to a thin ring rather quickly. The aroma was a bit lighter than I would have expected for a beer of this style. Still, it was good, with notes of caramel, breadiness, yeast and spices. The taste is good. The sweetness is more subdued than I would normally expect with a brew of this type. Caramel and fruit tastes, but they are subdued. Nothing really pops out, just a good blend. A bit of dryness to the finish. Nice.
