fredandboboflo (635), East Setauket, New York, USA Apr 6, 2008 Bottle. Mango, prune, plum, some general dried fruit character, toffee. The body also was reminsicent of dried fruit, ever so slightly chalky at times, but not in an offputting way. Less carbonation than many Belgians, I guess due to a lack of heavier bottle conditioning often used with them. I thought it was a pretty interesting, if not wowing brew.
cgarvieuk (2547), Edinburgh, Scotland Oct 6, 2008 Bottle at EBF copenhagen 2008 ... Copper ... sweet yeasty malts ... light yeasty fruityness ... juicy and little bready .. ok fiulijn (5900), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy Oct 5, 2008 Hazy amber color; creamy head. Delicate aroma, malty, fruity, sweet; quite nice. Powerful body, maybe even a bit too alcoholic, with malt flavor, enough sweetness, too simple on the yeast side. Low bitterness. jeffwilliams11 (278), hooterville, Michigan, USA Oct 2, 2008 this is a delicious beer. batch 2 pours opaque copper color with a small yet thick head. aroma is slightly spicy and yeasty with lots of matly undertones. slightly sour flavor, lots of rich malts, maybe a little chocolate in the background. almost no hop presence at all. thick, full mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Rune (1812), Tromsø, Norway Oct 1, 2008 Batch 2 – 8.72% ABV. Compact bottle from Ølbutikken, Copenhagen. Attractive clear, dark amber body with a decent, off-white head. Aroma of spiced malts. Candy sweet in flavour, offset by dark fruits and spices. Dry yeast to the finish. Well bodied, though a little out of character (hotel room in Valby, 11.09.2008). explosivebeer (35), Washington, USA Sep 29, 2008 This beer was a hazy light amber color with some residual head. The aroma had figs, raisins, and some alcohol present, along with some typical Belgian characteristics. It’s a little thin on the palate and has quite a bit of carbonation. It finishes solid, but overall, did not live up to its billing.
