Salvation. The name of two intricate Belgian-style ales created by us, Vinnie Cilurzo of Russian River Brewing and Adam Avery of Avery Brewing. After becoming friends a few years ago, we realized that we both had a Salvation in our line-ups. Was it going to be a problem? Should one of us relinquish the rights? "Hell no!" we said. In fact, it was quickly decided that we should blend the brews to catch the best qualities of each and create an even more complex libation. In April 2004, in top-secret meeting at Russian River Brewing (well actually it was packed in the pub, and many were looking over our shoulders wondering what the hell was going on), we came up with the perfect blend of the two Salvations. Natalie, Vinnie’s much more significant other, exclaimed, "We should call this Collaboration, not Litigation Ale!" "Perfect!" we shouted. We celebrated deep into the night, (or is it morning?). Fast forward to November 14, 2006. After talking about it for over 2 years we finally decided to pull the trigger and Vinnie flew out to Avery to brew his Salvation exactly as he does in his brewery. This was blended with Avery’s Salvation December 11th, 2006. We hope you enjoy it as much we enjoyed brewing and blending it.

This was a trip.Tasted from bottle;poured dark amber, nice froth. Mine somehow had particles floating. Fruity smell and taste. Very unusual mix, can’t describe it well. NOt bad though.

Chestnut brown pour with small off white head. Aroma of malts, caramel, spices, cloves and hops. Taste of toffee, molasses, candy sugar, yeast, caramel, hop bitterness on the finish, and slightly fruity. Full bodied, medium carbonation. This beer was very tasty but became very cloying and heavy as it warmed.

On draft at Parry's. Orangey-red body and an off-white head. Not as much aroma as I would have liked. Tastes very belgian, nice and rich. Tart and carbonated. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

4/9/14. Bomber Batch#7 (Feb 2014). Nice spicy nose with a touch of banana and fruit. Minimal head but nice lacing over a burnt orange colored pour. Strong hop and other bitter notes. Rich and complex that grows rather than being one dimensional. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nice brown pour, slightly cloudy, bit of offwhite head. Belgian yeast in the nose, banana and bubblegum esters, Carmel, cloves, and fresh creamy vanilla ice cream. Carbonation above average, bitter finish. Taste is more of the yeast and Carmel with tons of astringent salty bitter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Batch #7, bottled January 31, 2014.
Appearance: The body is a clear amber, reddish, and chestnut, really an interesting color. The head is short lived, a very light tan, settling into a foamy and thin coating.
Aroma: The aroma is a nice chalky banana with hints of chocolate with a slight creamed corn aroma and a subtle yeast spiciness along with s subtle potpourri aroma.
Taste: The flavor is exactly in line with the aroma. Nothing more to add here.
Palate: Medium bodied with mild to moderate carbonation.
Overall: This is really mediocre in my opinion. I feel like I’m picking up DMS. Other than that this is decent, but not worth buying again for me.

Pours amber with a ton of sediment. Nose is Belgian yeast, dark fruits, doughy, fruit ester, almost a caramel sweet note. Taste starts off almost like a dubbel or quad, with dark fruits, Belgian yeast, very fruity, spicy yeasty note. There's a lot on the finish, it's very sweet with a ton of ripe banana, caramel malt, chewy. The mouthfeel is relatively thin, well carbonated. Kind of one note, it's fine but not great. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2014 bottle. Pours almost clear radiant chestnut with a off white dense head and decent lace partially lasting. Aroma is ripe dark candied fruit and roasted nuts. Flavor is very fruity sweet, reminds me of dried candied fruit, but not cloying with a substantial earth and yeast bitterness. Feel is full, dense, fairly lively, with a long moderately bitter and slightly astringent finish. Very nice beer.

Great looking beer on tap - chestnut brown body with a durable off white head. Nose was heavy malt, with slight brown sugar notes. Typical heavy Belgian characteristics. Nicely made, but nota style I care for. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Clear copper/amber with a perfect 2 finger eggshell head. Aroma is yeast, wheat and some fruity esters. Taste is cherry, roasted malt, wheat, citrus and light boozy notes. Medium creamy mouthfeel with a short finish. Really well-crafted.

Dark hazy mahogany color with a thin fimy head and moderate carbonation. Aroma of Belgian yeasts, spices, citrus hops, cloves, toffee and a slight bubblegum sweetness. Very Belgian yeast forward with some caramel/bubblegum sweetness and some citrus hop notes. Aftertaste is a slightly spicy Belgian Yeast flavor. Body is heavy with some moderate fizzy carbonation. Very Tasty!
