3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a dark gold orange tinge with a 2 finger white head. A bit of lacing down the glass.
Sweet malts and a little bit of citrus in the nose.
Starts off with a touch of citrus. Pretty caramel malty then rounding into a lingering pine finish. A touch of oxidation.
Mouthfeel and carbonation are average.
A little more malt forward than I prefer my DIPA’s, but not too bad.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aromas of pine, tangerine peel, and some flora. Crystal clear copper-amber with a decently retaining white head. Dry, snappy, a little spicy, and bitter. Medium bodied, sharp, and finishes with lingering piney hops.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap at Avery. Dry hops and light malt flavor. Some sweetness from the grain, but this is primarily a hops-forward beer. Dry grass and flowers. Good.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 8/20
Strong resin aroma with suggestions of fruit - apricots, pineapples. An orange-amber pour with and mostly diminishing ivory head and lacing covering the glass sides. The taste is bitter with hints of a slight fruit sweetness. Resin, pine, apricots, with bread/grain notes in the finish. A bitter aftertaste prevails. Medium body with medium carbonation. Overall, while it is very hoppy, I have hoppyer brews (Deviant Dales).

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: NOV 10, 2013 Pours a cloudy orange light copper color with frothy head and bigger bubbles in the middle. Aroma is grapefruit citrucy Carmel malt upfront and some orange notes and some ginger bread. Taste follows the aroma well with some spice hops bitterness. Medium mouth feel and easy drinking for a imperial ipa. As usual a phenomenal malt backbone leaving malt legs all down the glass Nice balanced brew with some character and complexity. Very good! Avery is always impressive. Best malt backbone in the business.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a clear golden brown from the bottle with fluffy off-white head. Aroma is heavy on the pine hops and caramel malt, slight boozy background. Taste follows, very bitter on the tongue but no hint of the booze you had in the nose. Good, but maharaja is better.

4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Strong, boozy, roasted pine hop explosion. Good stuff, wish it was cheaper and easier to find. Toasted marmalade, grapefruit, pine, slight pinneapple and cracked peanut shells on finish. Abv comes through pretty hard, and although it gives it a creamy fullness, its a bit too much of an alcohol kick for me so I had to drop a few points. Still, if you like big, bad ass american style dipa’s dont pass this one up...
