Lupulin Rapture Incarnate! As fervent devotees of hops, we found ourselves on a quest to create a transcendental IPA capable of quenching our voracious lupulin desires. Our mantra became “unity of bitterness, hop flavor and aroma.” Enlightened, duganA IPA was born: A brutally bitter, dank, piney and resinous ale designed for those seeking a divine hop experience.

Bomber from the brewery Dark orange amber color, bright white head. Very sticky. Excellent lacing. Tropical fruits, citrus, and dank fruits with a big backbone. Complex nose and very in your face. Dank taste. Dank tropical fruits, citrus, and caramel. Big and bitter with flashes of sweetness. Sharp carbonation that makes this wonderful. Complex and just brilliant. Bummer it is in bomber format only. Top DIPA

Bottled: unk Pours a nice apricot ale with a solid sheet of light soapys. Smells piney, resiny, grapefruit, vitamins, some sweet malts and a good dose of BO. I like the nose. Taste is bitter, grapefruit again, resin and pine. A heavy dose of malts counter the hops well. Medium bodied with sharp carb and a dry finish. Good beer, wish there was a bottle date. 22 oz bomber from Evergreen Discount into a tulip. Dark orange and hazy with a sticky white head. Aroma of fresh citrus, tropical fruit, toasted malts, pine, resin and bitter hops. Similar flavor, medium to heavy bitterness with a light malt backbone. Paired with spicy chicken enchiladas.

FROM NOTES: October 16, ’13. Poured from a 22 oz. bomber into a snifter. A: MASSIVE amounts of citrus of orange, citrus, grapefruit, papaya, some mango, and then onto a piney note. A: Pours a golden orange body with a thick, white head. T: Big tropical fruits up front, as the nose suggests. More fruity hoppiness than bitter in the end. Slightly spicy and stone fruity, with the alcohol really accentuating the tropical notes on the finish. Aftertaste has more of the piney/floral bitterness. P: Medium body with moderate carbonation, smooth and crisp. O: Another great beer from Avery and a very nice DIPA.

Creamy orange hop bomb that if I didn’t know better would’ve thought came from Stone. As it is, this is an excellent piney double IPA.

22 oz bottle - pours clear golden orange, nice fluffy white head. Nice bitter pine and sticky resin aromas with some grapefruit. Taste is of oranges, pine, bitter hops in the finish with a bit of lemon sweetness. Nice balance with the malt bill, medium bodied and cool finish. Awesome.

The color is an extremely clear orange color with a large white head, and the aroma is a blend of resin, floral, and citrus hops with a certain level of diacetyl to it. The taste is completely divine due to the blend of a heavy bitterness blended beautifully with a mild sweetness. The palate, though, is what pulls this brew into the extremely enjoyable due to the creamy texture, thick texture, long bitter finish, and soft carbonation.

Nice copper pour with a decent head. Not as much aroma as you would think for a big IBU beer but does have some hints of sweetness. Fairly restrained and balanced taste with a pleasant aftertaste. Would be good with tacos but then again, everything is good with tacos.

On draft. No particular hop aroma, but maybe some honey malts? Taste is a slow build of hops -- nothing dominates, just vaguely pine resiny, evident hops -- to a very roasty chocolate malt finish. An extraordinarily mature, considered IPA. OK, a DIPA, but barely. Marvy.
