COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lupulin Rapture Incarnate! As fervent devotees of hops, we found ourselves on a quest to create a transcendental IPA capable of quenching our voracious lupulin desires. Our mantra became “unity of bitterness, hop flavor and aroma.” Enlightened, duganA IPA was born: A brutally bitter, dank, piney and resinous ale designed for those seeking a divine hop experience.

Bottle shared with davinci. Pours a clear golden with a big frothy white head. Nice crisp stinky piney resinous aroma, very crisp and enticing. Flavor follows, crisp medium sweetness that is excellently balanced, salty piney, lightly soapy, resin, dry and crisp finish. Perfectly crisp body, fine sizzling carbonation with a light stickiness. I love it.

22oz from alagnak. Dark brownish golden color with a decent white head that laces the glass well. Nose is full of peach, pineapple, mango with hints of pine a touch of that cattiness. Not a great deal of body or depth in the palate or flavor. As mj notes, the crystal malt really kills the flavor and doesn’t do justice for what the nose leads you believe you are about to taste. Hoppy and astringent but too thin and one dimensional for me. Thanks Chirs

UPDATED: OCT 23, 2009 Bottle shared by bcv. Big fruity nose. Peach, apricot, orange. Amber, golden, orange. Great creamy head and sticky lace. Peach, apricot, orange, grapefruit and some floral notes. A little perfumey/soapy.

bomber. filtered clear rust colored body. soft floral hop nose with citrus notes of maraschino cherry/pear/mango and a small saran wrap/medicinal quality. texture is medium to full, chewy and syrupy for the most part. addition of crystal malt leaves it more crunchy/bready/doughy when I would rather see more pale malt. bitterness is excessive. malt and yeast texture are stripped naked by filtration, leaving this beer too crunchy/astringent/rough, no different than hog heaven. drinkable but not for the price.

UPDATED: NOV 10, 2009 Pours a brilliant light amber color with a white, full, creamy, pillowy head which is mostly lasting and does leave some drippy lace. Nose is pleasant but flawed with notes of highly resinous pine, light floral, light grapefruit, very light notes of toasted caramel, some biscuity notes, but also a very picklly note. Flavor is very similar with resinous pine, grapefruit tangerine, light floral, nice toasted caramel and buttery biscuits, but again the same off putting notes of pickles and aspirin. Palate is nice with a moderate body, velvety texture, and nearly lively carbonation. Finishes with some light sweetness remaining of caramel but mostly it is peppery notes (almost jalapeño-like), resiny, and with some lingering aspirin. Seeing other notes, this seems to be a very inconsistent beer with some loving and some hating it. I can see the potential in this one but the offputting notes really made it just okay. While it is a very hoppy beer, I feel the pickly and aspirin notes are more dominate than the bitterness. Avery has disappointed me in the past year.

Aroma: dry hop smells of centennial hops, not extreme like some RR or PP beers Taste: squarely imperial IPA flavor, bitterness strong not extreme. Piny (simcoe?) presence. Basically a Pliney clone but less bubblegum, more hot spice and same pine bite.

Pours a nice amber, with a thick creamy head -- lacing throughout. The aroma of typical IPAs: pine and citrus. I enjoyed the velvet texture, and bitter finish. Overall great IPA. This is on the top of my list.

scoth (427) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - OCT 18, 2009
Pours clear amber gold, with a one-and-a-half finger beige head, fine and lasting lacing. Aroma of pine resin, grass, and bread. Medium body, velvety and dry. Has a solid malt backbone of bread and caramel, with strong pine resin, floral, and grass characteristics. Medium bitter finish. Well executed and delicious.

Vac (2442) - Soon to be back in San Diego, California, USA - OCT 17, 2009
Pours with an amber body topped by a thick head with a good amount of lacing. It’s slightly sweet yet bitter and hoppy with piney notes and a hint of mint. the aroma has a much more pronounced mint note. Full bodied, astringent and warming.

UPDATED: OCT 29, 2009 Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is dark yellow to light amber. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (caramel, toasted grain), moderately to heavily hoppy (resin, grapefruit), lightly yeasty (dough), with a note of aspirin. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter. Medium to full body, velvety/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic, moderately astringent. Mehh, not for me at all. A unidimensional resin-bomb with some unattractive notes (vitamin B, aspirin) and an abrasive, citric, astringent mouth experience. Nearly unpleasant.
