Draft: Clear straw. Creamy white head. Boring nose of toasted hay, lime, tangerine and pineapple. Soft carbonation deposits an unpleasant fuzzy residue on the palate. Initially resinous with hops, yet sharp with palate-stinging oils lightly cushioned by slick residual sugars, polished citrus, and grainy pale malt. Malt gradually takes on a tasty fresh cookie note along with some doughy sweetness. Finishes deceptively bitter as the acidic hop oils continue to blanket the palate, contributing a minor aspirin-like astringency along the way. Not bad, but unfortunately the poorly placed hop-derived acidity detracts from, rather than enhances, the vibrant hop qualities. The potential is here, but pretty run-of-the-mill, as is.

Jan 5, 2010 22oz Bottle. Just a slight haze to this copper ale with a small head which lightly laces the glass. Powerful hop aroma, I first notice Tangerine with Pine and Grapefruit. I can’t remember ever experiencing the layers of hop aromas quite like this. Quite layered and complex. Maybe the first 10 I’ve given in this style. Now I’m getting Bubblegum and I’m sure there is more to come. Body is medium to full and slightly oily with average carbonation. The flavor is not as special as the aroma and kind of one dimensional. This is where some more malt flavors would be a nice balance. It’s a bitter one for sure. Piney hop flavor, lightly bitter yet lingering with a medium dry finish. Overall I was set up by the awsome aroma but a bit let down with the lackluster flavor.

Jan 5, 2010 Pours golden orange with a white head. Ton of hops in the aroma, lots of resiny pine. The flavor is more hops, with piney resin as well as a good amount of bitterness. Not a ton of malt flavor. You also get some citrus and grapefruit but the pine is the main hop flavor. Very drinkable for a hoppy DIPA.

Jan 3, 2010 Sampled at Barrios’ Sausage Fest 2010! Great clear orange with fair white head. Tremendous nose of sweet, resinous hops! Flavor is almost as good, with a great bitter melding of hops on the tail. Great beer with great label art. Love this beer!

Jan 3, 2010 Pours a clear orange with white head. A hop bomb, very piney and resiny aroma. Similar taste, very hoppy finish. Lacks the balanced finish of a DIPA. Not the most complete hop beer, very solid though.

Jan 3, 2010 Bright copper orange in color. Nose of Christmas tree and pine. Very conifierous. Bitingly bitter. Missing malt balance for an Ipa^2. Still hoppy crazy good.

Jan 3, 2010 Pours a lacing beige head with an orange-amber body. Aromas of pineapple, citrus, pine. Flavor is the same. Both are overwhelming and awesome. Finish is bitter and dry. Pine everywhere.

Jan 3, 2010 tap: Flying Saucer bottle: home .. . medium copper .. . fantastic foam attributes .. . taste of fresh hops, resin, fresh from the tree sap, and xmas tree cuttings .. . never test hot cooking oil with your fingers, i mean just don’t try it.. seriously.. A nice brew ... looks great, pretty full, lotsa sap ...
