COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lupulin Rapture Incarnate! As fervent devotees of hops, we found ourselves on a quest to create a transcendental IPA capable of quenching our voracious lupulin desires. Our mantra became “unity of bitterness, hop flavor and aroma.” Enlightened, duganA IPA was born: A brutally bitter, dank, piney and resinous ale designed for those seeking a divine hop experience.

22oz from alagnak. Dark brownish golden color with a decent white head that laces the glass well. Nose is full of peach, pineapple, mango with hints of pine a touch of that cattiness. Not a great deal of body or depth in the palate or flavor. As mj notes, the crystal malt really kills the flavor and doesn’t do justice for what the nose leads you believe you are about to taste. Hoppy and astringent but too thin and one dimensional for me. Thanks Chirs

Bright copper orange in color. Nose of Christmas tree and pine. Very conifierous. Bitingly bitter. Missing malt balance for an Ipa^2. Still hoppy crazy good.

Location: On tap at Capital Ale House - Innsbrook, 11/24/09

Aroma: A nose of pine and citrus with some toffee as well
Appearance: Slightly cloudy orange-amber, fluffy head
Flavor: Taste is a nice hop flavor with some malt backing
Palate: Medium body and somewhat long duration
Overall Impression: Overall, I thought this made for a more then solid DIPA, not one of the best one’s I’ve ever had, but one I would certainly like to drink again in the future. A nice offering from Avery.

(draught at Addison Saucer) clear rich orange/amber, soapy tan head. Nose of pineapple, bitter, and orange marmalade. Taste is quite bitter, grapefruit, not complex just bitter. Oddly seems easier to drink as it warms. Sweet finish. Not a bad beer.

growler fill from Whole Foods-bowery. Hazy orange pour. Strangly, pours with no head at all... body is a bit flat, so perhaps the lid was leaky? Grassy, piney with a touch of citrus. Bold caramel malts with a touch of toffee. Bitter on the tongue and astringent. Finishes with some cool booze. Tasty but a bit underattenuated.

On tap at Rattle N Hum. Dark orange/amber with a finger-wide white head. Aroma is very fruity for a double IPA with notes of apricots, peaches, orange peel, and caramel. Some spruce and grassy notes as well. Flavor is also on the sweet/fruit side but with a nice bitter and hoppy undertone. Sugar and pale malts aftertaste. Cream mouth-feel, medium bodied.

This was good, but not amazing to me. The Maharaja is much better IMO. Lots of herbal and piney notes to me, a good flavor. A great IPA, but not amazing.

Bottle from 5 points. Diminished aroma. Beautiful pour. Rather nondescript ipa. Good, but I can get this type of brew in any bottle shop in America. Very average. Where are all the hops the label promised?
