3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 RSRIZZO (1634) - Colorado Springs, USA - OCT 27, 2009
Poured from a 22oz. bottle into a Snifter at 50°. Color is a slightly hazy golden orange with a touch of amber. Carbonation is very good producing a tall thick head that holds on with good lacing as you drink it. Aroma is hoppy with a resin like citric hay scent that only lets a little malt show thorough. Starting with a medium body it goes down crisp with a sticky feel and a bitterness biting at the sides of your tong on the end. Finish is light on the sweet letting the bitterness and hops stand out with a spicy nutmeg, pepper and grapefruit taste jumping out. After taste is dry with a heavy bitterness lingering on with the grapefruit. Overall this is a complex IPA that leans a little on the citrus side for me, but is still a very good and well done brew. As it warms to about 55° the flavors seem to smooth out, I suggest drinking it between 55° and 60° to get the best flavors to come out.

Aroma has a very earthy hop profile-pine resin and grain. Palate is really nice, with more of a dirty/earthy hop flavor and great balance.

Slightly hazy golden with visible carbonation. Egg-white head... looks good. Citrushop flavor, fuller hop palate. Nice. On tap at the Shep

I can’t figure out what exactly I didn’t like about this. Comparatively for an IPA that is. Dark draft pour at Fork. Medium head. Very hoppy musty fruity taste. Kind of a sweet choker. Dunno. Didn’t enjoy it for some reason

UPDATED: FEB 11, 2012 22 ozer, Orange golden clear hue with white foamy head, diminishing, fair lacing, sweet carmel and resin smell, on the thicker side, more sweet than anything else, some peach, nectar bouquet, bitterness is well balanced, note quite as bitter as advertised and alcohol is pretty well hidden, good one to split, re-rated: in retrospect better than initially reated

On tap at Champs. Gold with white head. Aroma is tropical fruit. Flavor is tropical fruit, mustiness and some caramel sweetness. Interesting but not my thing.

Great beer. Aroma is amazingly strong hops. The taste is best described danky and resinous which is a really good thing the bitterness is medium high.

750 ml. pours a copper orange with a nice white head. Aromas of pine, resin, grapefruit, a big hop bomb. Nicely balanced with bitter hops but a nice malt backbone, a great beer

This poured a semi cloudy bright oranage color with a beige head. Aroma was of herbala nd citrusy hops, and soem caramel and biscuit malt. Flavor was a bit of a disappointment, very sweet, with notes of fruit and bitterness, but way too much residual sugar to be top notch.
