Feb 17, 2009 12oz bottle. Medium brown, rocky tan head. Toasted aroma, some sweet malt scent, light coffee, some acidity in the nose as well. Nice roasted grain flavor. Lots of chocolate malts, earthy finish. Some coffee notes as well. Woody hop bitterness. Perfect balance, it’s like a loaf of bread.

Feb 6, 2009 Dark red pour with an off white head. Aroma of sweet malts. Flavor is roasted with a little coffee. Yeast/bread finish.

Feb 4, 2009 Pours a darkened crimson with a decent tan head. Looks very good. Typical malty brown aroma with a herbal, nutty aroma. Burnt sugar, sharp chicory, bittersweet chocolate, vanilla and nuts. I think it wants to be an Indian Brown as the constituents are similar. However, not brewed nearly as well. The flavors don’t flow well and are fairly choppy. Hops are present but appear only after the bitter chicory-coffee evaporate. Body is watery and finishes bitter. Don’t get me wrong, it’s worth a try, but not more than that.

Feb 2, 2009 Taste 2/9 Bottle. Looks: Dark and clear with a thin little head. Aroma: Sweet roasted and toasted malts, chocolate. The fresh smell you find with browns. Taste: Nice and yeasty against the darker malt tones. It is a little woody/acidic for a brown.

Jan 31, 2009 Bottle. Medium head. Sweet nutty toasty malty aroma and taste is the perfect compliment to the dark brown color of the beer. A good example of the style.

Jan 30, 2009 Crushed with Jakebra. Pretty nice brown. Not much nose to speak of. Some roast, maybe some nuts, mostly sweet malt though. Flavor is much more roasty and nice, but still not very robust. Still, smooth drinking. It’s aight.
