Commercial Description:
This beautiful, deep russet brew has the sweet and somewhat nutty character of Adam Avery's late (1992-2002) Chocolate Lab, for which it is named. Crystal and chocolate malts give this beer a brown sugar maltiness with hints of vanilla and nuts, while subtle hopping gives it an overall drinkability that's second to none, just like Ellie!

Pours a dark barely translucent brown with a decently frothy head. Light aroma includes some toasted malts and a slight fruitiness. Flavor is mostly toasted malt, some nuttiness and a little bitterness from the hops. Overall has character but not overpowering.

Pours dark coffee brown with a shallow creamy froth. Smells of fresh hops like an IPA. Medium nectar weight with ample residual effers. Flavors are dry with a big fresh hoppy bitterness on the finish. Well ballanced. Hoppy for a brown. The leather and cocoa are almost nonexist. Excellent indeed. not malty at all. A well balanced session brew. Highly recommended

Pours a deep reddish brown. Fizzy with a fluffy white head. Sweetish, nutty, lightly roasted malt dominates the aroma. Starts out a little molasses sweet, with deep roast and nut flavor. Finishes drier with a touch of bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium thick anda little sticky. A very nice brown.

Dark brown in color…almost completely opaque. Thick, fluffy head. Heavy malt aroma, with a slight nut complexity. Front also has a nutty malt flavor to it…mouthfeel is very smooth. Back consists of an extremely subtle hop bitterness, followed by a dry finish. Probably one of the best browns I’ve tasted…nothing overwhelming by nature, yet very well assembled.

Bottle: pours dark brown. Toffee and malty aroma. Crystal malt taste with slight caramel sweetness and a slight hop bite. Good beer but not my favorite Brown.

Pours with a small, tight brown head that fades quick leaving a dark brown body. Aroma of chocolate, dark fruits, a tad vinous. Lots of malt and some toffee. Taste is all malts, nuts, and chocolate with some toffee. Lively carbonation, water like mouthfeel.
