Commercial Description:
This beautiful, deep russet brew has the sweet and somewhat nutty character of Adam Avery's late (1992-2002) Chocolate Lab, for which it is named. Crystal and chocolate malts give this beer a brown sugar maltiness with hints of vanilla and nuts, while subtle hopping gives it an overall drinkability that's second to none, just like Ellie!

Another bottle from a $9.69 six pack at BevMo. This 12 oz bottle poured a rich dark brown and raised a moderate light tan head and light lacing . Nose of chocolate and roasted malts. Medium mouthfeel. Flavor shows malts, chocolate, and nuts. Dry finish. Pretty good brown.

Pours deep brown into a shaker. Offwhite head recedes leaving spot lacing. Cocoa aromas. Chocolate and malts upfront. Crisp and dry in the finish.

Recently added to the tap selection in ESPN Zone Denver. Dark clear nut brown. Vaguely cidery quality to the otherwise simple crystal malt falvour. Not very nutty or hoppy to me. I’ll have to try this one again some time.

A canonical brown. Looks fantastic. Aroma is nutty, hint of roast, and some good malt. Flavor is just excellent, nice malt with some good hop hints. Finish is clean and good. You can’t go wrong with this brown. Avery’s kinda known for their huge beers, but this is one of their best, methinks.

12 oz. bottle into shaker. Rich slightly hazy dark brown color with a great creamy dirty tan head that holds well and laces. Very nice doughy nutty malty rich aroma with some nice bitter hop notes to it too - really well balanced and appealing. Flavor starts with doughy malt upfront that quickly morphs into a very nice nuttiness coupled with some nice bitter pine notes. Some oakyness with some hints of vanilla and chocolate in there too. Medium bodied with soft, just the sight amount of carbonation. Overall: usually not the most complex style, but this really has lots going on in it and provides a perfect and really refreshing example of its style. This is a great fall session beer. The more I drink, the more I think this is a truly exception beer.
