Commercial Description:
This beautiful, deep russet brew has the sweet and somewhat nutty character of Adam Avery's late (1992-2002) Chocolate Lab, for which it is named. Crystal and chocolate malts give this beer a brown sugar maltiness with hints of vanilla and nuts, while subtle hopping gives it an overall drinkability that's second to none, just like Ellie!

4/24/08 notes: bottle. Pours clear amber-brown with a small tan head. Smell is of roasts, dark malt, and sweet brown sugar. The flavor is mellow and nutty, tasting of almond/walnut. My opinion: this beer is easy to drink, smooth, and fairly distinctive from other browns because of its sweet nuttyness. Finish was a bit sharp and dry for such a mellow-flavored beer. I would have also preferred a more bold flavor.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours clear and golden brown with a lacing tan head. Aroma is dry hops and fruity aroma with a light roasted malt note. Flavour starts malt sweet and soon goes into a light pinewood dry hops and mild overripe fruity note. Light acidic touch and more fruity notes. Ends with a pinewood dry hops flavour.

Bottle, bought @ Tønden, Haslev.
Drank this at the beginning of the defining round of Premiership football. Come on, you reds!
Pours deep, mahogany red-brown with a fine, small, creamy off-white head. Nice duration. Impressive aroma with hazel nuts, light pine hops, caramel and chocolate. Light and fresh mouthfeel, medium carbonation. Flavour is sweet with lots of nuttiness and caramel. A deep, milk chocolate finish. Wonderful brown ale!

Bottle. [Courtesy of yespr, thanks buddy] Average beige and creamy head that mostly lasted. Fair display of lacework. Light cloudy brown colour. Aroma of caramel, roasted malt, nutty, chocolate, fruit, vanilla. Excellent and well-balanced Brown Ale. Medium to full bodied with an average carbonation. Moderated sweet flavour with mild bitterness. Lingering chocolate and nutty finish. Now that is a Brown Ale.

A dark ruby brown with thin cream colored head. Low on aroma - sweet malts present. Quite intensely chocolate flavored - sweet malts & caramel, and a touch of sharp citrus. Exceptionally smooth and creamy mouth feel. Super drinkable. Happy I grabbed a quality brew for my 100th rating.

Nice looking leathery brown in color. Beautiful foamy head. Very nice sweet bready aroma. Very clean tasting with a chocolaty aftertaste. Smooth... on the palate. A nice beer overall.

Pours a nice dark brown color with a thin tan head. Good lacing. Weak aroma with light hings of bread and a toasted, nutty smell. The initial flavor is weak, with just a hint of caramel sweetness. However, the flavor intensifies as the beer fills your mouth to include a surprisingly sweet (for a brown ale), sugary flavor. Mouthfeel was a dissapointment--very thin and watery. You can do better.
