Bottle. Pours dark brown with an beige head. Malty aroma, with caramel notes and some light chocolate. Body is a bit thin for a brown ale. Flavor is sweet caramel, nuts, and roasted malt. Pretty good.

Root beer or color of cola. Sweet inkling for aroma with hints of slag on the olfactory. Yes, certainly an ale, rude at times with a leathery palate. Interesting, with a bit of uncivilized offense. Overall a drinkable ale.

Quite drinkable brown. Not much aroma, but good clean flavors, malty and nutty with just a touch of hop bitterness. Well balanced, but a bit too fizzy on the carbonation.

The first thing that hit my brain as I was pouring this was: "Man. That is a good looking beer." Pours a clear dark brown. Great light tan head that sticks around for a little bit. If this tastes as good as it looks... Nose is a bit leafy and it’s strong enough to be noticed, but not so overpowering that it kicks your nose. Flavor is hearty with a kick of tanginess. Robust, but not brutal. Firm but mature tones of malts slide over my tongue. If only that slight zing weren’t there, it would be all the better. Feel is nice. Good level of carbonation and a slightly thicker liquid feel. Overall a very good one here. Well made and worth trying. The only detracting feature is that tangy aspect that hits you.

This is a great beer to have when you don’t want to put too much thought into your beer but at the same time you want something a little on the darker side. A nice rich balance of caramel and chocolate, with a finish that is reminiscent of hazelnuts. Slightly rich, with a somewhat bitter finish, and overall very drinkable.

Pours dark brown with a thick white head. Aroma is malty, nutty, and roasted malt. Taste is smooth and malty with hints of chocolate and nuts. Finishes very nice and makes you want more. Very easy drinking brown ale.

12oz. bottle pours with small but everlasting head. This is a beautiful brown ale, just what I always imagined. The aroma impresses as well with a sweet blackbread and sugar smell along with just a hint of hops. The palate is just melt in your mouth rolling around with excellent carbonation and just a slighlty underweight body. Flavor is initially coffee, then chocolate, then sweet malt and vanilla, finishing with a great mild bitterness. Overall, this is an amazing brown ale without much room for improvement. From now on, all brown ales will be measured against Ellie’s by Avery.
