For what it lacks in appearance it makes up for in taste. Poured a dark chestnut brown with no - repeat no head. When it came out of the tap I thought it was flat. Well it wasn’t flat. On the contrary it was full of malt and nut flavor and just the right amount of hops. Finished full and a little bitter. Maybe they just don’t don’t know how to pour it right. Anyway, I’ll be having this one every time I fly through DEN. travita (1910), Frisco, Texas, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 22, 2007 (Bottle) Pours a brown color with a small beige head. Aroma of hazelnut and sweet malts. Taste is of caramel and toffee, with a good amount of hops to balance. Could be a little less sweet and less carbonated, but an enjoyable Brown ale overall. mistersinalin (378), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 19, 2007 Okay so it looks like a chocolate lab, but thank goodness it doesn’t smell like one. One of my favorite browns, Ellie has a nice nutty aroma. Its silky coat lays down on the tongue with obedience. Fetch me another. talon1117 (622), Bellvue, Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 18, 2007 Pours a clear, brown with rust highlights; head is average, creamy-pillowy, off-white, and with moderate longevity and minimal lacing. Nose is simple with hazlenut, light chocolate, and hints at burnt sugars. Flavor is similar with lots of sweet brown sugar notes, light chcolate, and roasted nuts with only enough bitterness to keep from cloying. Palate is light to medium, soft, and smooth. Finishes somewhat short and mostly sweet with lingering nutty characteristics and brown sugar. A very drinkable brown with rich malt tones and subtle hop presence. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 18, 2007 From bottle : A nice spicey malt aroma, with hints of cocoa, hops, and tobacco. A beautiful deep rich brown color, with a finger white head. The taste is very well balanced with malts and hops, with a good amount of roasted malts and a little chocolate. Medium body that is creamy, with some noticable carbonation. A pretty good brown ale. RSRIZZO (1365), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 16, 2007 Had this beer on 11/7/1998. Color is a deep brown with a bit of amber to it. Carbonation is good but the head is out of control, I can’t get my glass filled. Aroma has a spicy malt scent that reminds me of a home brew. Taste is light and nutty. It starts with a lighter body then you would think from the looks of it and goes down with a crisp feel. The finish has a nice nutty roasted malt taste backed with a light bitterness. Although I feel the over carbonation takes away from the flavor, it is about what there description said it would be. drewbeerme (2274), Chicago, Illinois, USA
