| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 22, 2007 Dark reddish brown our. Aroma of brown sugar and French vanilla coffee. Nutty with chocolates follows a light smokiness. The faint use of hops helps keep this from becoming too sweet or cloying. asheft (1398), Marburg, Germany

Salty, toasty, malt aroma with a touch of banana and a hint of hops. Clear reddish brown with a lasting tan blanket. Biscuity flavour that was a bit sour but with an excellent sweet mocha finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation, clean yet sweet finish. chimpscampee (556), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 10, 2007 Another well balanced brew from Avery. One of the best I’ve had in a style I often dislike. The nut and vanilla-- all is about right. nearbeer (1834), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 9, 2007 Updated: Jun 10, 2007Bottle. Pours mostly unclouded, and dark brown-red. Small creamy head that lasts well, with nice lacing. Aroma is cocoa, pine-lemon hops, and slight caramel. Taste is toasted nut, citrus-pine hop, slight bittersweet chocolate, faint brown sugar-cinnamon. Palate is smooth and towards the dry side, with a nice hop tingle; excellent medium-heavy mouthfeel. Great brown, with lots more flavor than most. A great session brew, as well as a most satisfying one-and-done. RollinHard (758), Fort Worth, Texas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 6, 2007 Sampled at Avery. Aroma encompasses pretty much all "brown" food. Toast, coffee, nuts, it’s all pretty abundant. Planty hops too. Light brown sugar sweetness with some nutty toast and light roast flavors. Pretty fresh hop flavor and an almost buttery roast finish. Very nice flavors and a nice beer overall, but I like Avery at their extremes a bit more. Still, I like knowing that they can make great quality mild beers too. BuckeyeBoy (1665), Boise, Idaho, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 30, 2007 I really enjoy this brown ale. It has deep notes of cocoa and coffee on boiht the nose and the mouthfeel. The palate is actually a cross between crisp and chewy. One of the best brown ales I have ever had. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 27, 2007 I really liked this beer; it is the best brown ale I’ve had in recent memory. Its flavor is quite a nice combination nuttiness and roastiness. Quite well done.
Aroma is an attractive red-brown with copius amounts of loose cumulus-looking head. Aroma is a nice sweet caramel-ness. Flavor is as I mentioned above. Mouthfeel is unremarkable. All-in-all quite solid and highly recommended.
