Some initial lacing that does not last. Faint scent of roasted malt, but forgive me for my nose is a wee bit stuffy! Taste is not particularly full as it goes down, and only a faint malty aftertaste remains. I’m finding nothing particularly interesting about this one.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 20, 2007 Pours a deep brown with amber highlgihts when held to the light. Head was a medium foamy/rocky light tan head that left spotty lacing. Aroma of chocolate, nuts, roasted malts, light coffee and some citrus hops. Flavors of light coffee, some chocolate, some caramel, more hops than I was expecting. A little thin. Lowe1983 (1029), Fairborn, Ohio, USA

Aroma is of roasted malts, chocolate, toffee, coffee, and some nuts. Thick on the palate with strong sweet malts, roasted malts, chocolate, a hint of coffee, and plenty of nuttiness. Picked up on a slight hoppiness on the finish. A decent brew from Avery. Dedollewaitor (3709), Odense, Denmark

Brown ales so often have a metallic zing to the malt, but this beer from Avery really dodged that tin bullet. Just enough hops to keep your tongue awake and chewy enough to keep your attention. Well rounded and just tasty.
