Commercial Description:
This beautiful, deep russet brew has the sweet and somewhat nutty character of Adam Avery's late (1992-2002) Chocolate Lab, for which it is named. Crystal and chocolate malts give this beer a brown sugar maltiness with hints of vanilla and nuts, while subtle hopping gives it an overall drinkability that's second to none, just like Ellie!

Bottle from Ledger’s in Berkeley. Aroma of caramel malt, chocolate, and dark fruits. Flavor is nice and fairly complex with caramel, brown sugar, chocolate, fig, and hazelnuts. Palate medium. Great example of the style.

Pours a cherry cola flavor with little to no head. Aroma holds caramel, cocoa, citrus, and some cherry. Flavor is quite nice- chocolate, roasted barley, and a great classic brown ale taste. Good palate, really nice brew, especially for one of my less liked styles.

Pours a very dark brown with the slightest ruby tint. Aroma is caramel, chocolate, fruity esters and hints of grapefruit and lemon hops. Flavor is an excellent balance of roasty barley, chocolate, hints of coffee, and a tad of fruityness. Palate is slightly thin, but most excellent for the style. Very nice.

At Sudwerk Beerfest 2009. This dark brown ale poured with a generous beige head and a pleasant chocolate aroma. There is a chocolate and nut flavor that is quite tasty.

Very fruity!! Is this a peach and guava infused beer? Nice near-still pour. Creamy feel and medium body with slightly sweet malt finish. Lacks hop bite and nutty toasty malt. Solid fare.
