COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beautiful, deep russet brew has the sweet and somewhat nutty character of Adam Avery's late (1992-2002) Chocolate Lab, for which it is named. Crystal and chocolate malts give this beer a brown sugar maltiness with hints of vanilla and nuts, while subtle hopping gives it an overall drinkability that's second to none, just like Ellie!

Nice deep brown. Malty, nutty, chocolatey smell. Bitter chocolate hint in the flavor. Fairly good for a brown ale which I am not too familiar with.

Excellent roasted malt taste with hints of nuts and chocolate; nice hop follow. A very good brown ale that I'll try again.

This cloudy brown ale pours with a voluminois light tan head. It very slowly fades to a rocky layer of foam that you must suck the beer through. It leaves about a quarter-inch collar of foam at the top of the glass. For those of us with mustaches, the head wants to collect on the upper lip. The aroma is sweet caramel and a hint of chocolate, with just a touch of hops showing through. The taste is mild and sweet. Chocolate covered caramel and some nice maltiness, followed by a touch of bitterness. A very light sourness creeps in on the finish, but it cleans up the palate very well and prevents the sweetness from hanging around. The mouthfeel is slightly overcarbonated and a tad thin. Drinkability is excellent

There's a hint of hops that I don't think I've encountered in a brown ale before. There's also a nice mellow malt flavor.

Medium sized tan head with a good hang time, splotchy lacing. Nice clear brown/red hued beer, very good looking. Nice malty, chocolatey nose with some hop spiceyness too. Medium body. Light maltiness, mild nuttiness. Medium sweet finish. A little more bite would be nice, good session brew though. Nice brown ale.

Brown color. Aroma of malt, paper and roasted chicken. Balanced taste, with some malt, roasted malt, caramel, nuts. Quite pleasant.

Brown-amber color, creamy head. Nice aroma, original, changing from the light oatmeal, to the caramel, cardboard, coffee, light hop. Pleasant, with a quite good body, malty, with some roasted barley and hazelnuts, but most of all a very nice hop note. A positive surprise!

Pleasant nutty/chocolately aroma - hits you in a bad way the first sniff but that grows on you. Light off-white head with thin lacing. Just a tad bit watery. Pleasant nutty flavor with some underlying chocolate sweetness. Overall a good solid brown - love the label as well with the dog on it.

Good mouthfeel, just the right fizziness with dry, chickory finish and a little herbal/grassy quality. Nice looking bourbon-colored beer, good label, good cap. Pleasant bitterness, cocoa malting, moderate sweetness. A very good brew.

Bright chestnut colot with a smallish small bubbles head. Heavy, light roasted malt, nuts and hint of hops. While I not a big brown/amber fan this is the way one should smell. Rich feel. Flavors of earthy malt, light coffee and dark toffee. Finish is real sharp and bitter, near metallic.

UPDATED: SEP 11, 2005 Dark ruby-brown with a frothy beige head that held on like Larry Mahan. Fragrance of nuts, toffee, and grassy hops. Pleasing taste of roasted nuts and rich malt flavors including caramel and chocolate. Medium-bodied with a mostly dry finish. A nice, flavorful Brown Ale.
