3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep dark brown appearance with mininal head but great lacing.
This brew really surprised me. It was handed to me in a glass, and I was firmly convinced it was a rather low body stout. I was wrong, it was actually a brown ale. In true Avery fashion, they took a normal brown ale and went big. This was all around solid.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours up a murky dark brown, with a dense tan head. Nice sweet aroma, with molasses, caramel, and mild leafy herbal hops. Creamy medium body with soft carbonation. Molasses, caramel, and mild hops on the palate, soft finish. Itís a winning choice in my book.

Pretty bland and tasteless. No off taste and true to style in its boring ness. At the islands can beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Malty, cocoa, chocolate aroma. Taste is a malty brown with chocolate notes and a good amount of hops balancing the malt. Full flavored, well made brown. Not overly malty or hoppy. Well done on a normal style by Avery. Really nice brown.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Hmm, more nutty in flavor than your typical brown. Decent brown pour w/ thin head & good lacing. The aroma has a very nice dark malt & nut scent. The taste is somewhat dry for a brown & slightly uninteresting. There isnít much chocolate or sweetness to properly balance it. Itís still rather drinkable but not at the top of itís class!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Can pour into shaker pint glass from Andover Liquors. Aroma is bready malt with mild roast and vanilla, cocoa. Appearance is clear, dark mahogany with tons of sparkle, finger-width foamy light brown head with fair retention and nice lacing. Taste is as aroma with addition of mild nuts, brown sugar and dark fruit. Palate is light bodied with thin texture, average carbonation and finish as is taste. Overall, a nice brown ale.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
The bond between brewer and dog has led to some brilliant liquid tributes to fallen canine friends. Itís funny because there are some rather mediocre beers dedicated to deceased people. (Yes, thereís good ones, too, and I wonít name the less stellar ones out of fear for my own life.) Is this proof that dogs are better than humans? Probably, but enough with the soul-searching. Ellieís pours mahogany-brown with tan suds. Aroma of roasted nuts, toasted sugar, and cocoa. Flavor has some hops to balance things, but the taste leans toward sweet with creamy chocolate. Itís settled. Dogs are better than people.
