COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beautiful, deep russet brew has the sweet and somewhat nutty character of Adam Avery's late (1992-2002) Chocolate Lab, for which it is named. Crystal and chocolate malts give this beer a brown sugar maltiness with hints of vanilla and nuts, while subtle hopping gives it an overall drinkability that's second to none, just like Ellie!

Great balance here, sweet malty yeasty aroma gives way to a slight overlap of hops. Then you get a long mellow smooth finish. Very dark color, medium head, nice creamy mouthfeel. I am going to start stocking this as an alternative to harsh British brown ales.

This is a pretty good beer, not something I can drink everyday. My friend does not like it.

Can@5p. Brown. Dark bready, chocolate malty nose with a hint of foresty herbs. Medium light bodied, soft, smooth texture. Some roastedness, chocolate, touch of vanilla. Nice brown ale. Soft smooth, easy.

hopmelt (140) - Painesville TWP, Ohio, USA - JUN 30, 2014
Pours clear, deep mahogany, slight creamy khaki head. Aroma chocolate, caramel malt, somewhat bready and a bit of Earth hop. Taste chocolaty, roast, caramel, bready malt, coffee and earthy hop slight bitterness to balance. Mouthfeel medium body, low carbonation, balanced finish slightly on the sweet side. Overall good tasty beer, good flavor and balance.

DocJitsu (826) - Florida, USA - JUN 18, 2014
Pours a clear ruby-brown-amber with a khaki colored head. A note or two of coffee on the nose, but mostly cherry fruit roll-up. Wet texture with medium to full body, for the style, with just the mildest scrub toward the finish. The flavors approximate the aromas. More hard candy. The sweetness dies about midway.

Three finger head. Nutty darkmalts... Less sweet... Tinge of bitterness on the finish. Good to session, not particularly complex.

Dark brown pour. Aroma of light roast malt with a nutty/biscuit malt background. Flavor is moderate roasted malt with more of the nutty toasted malt. Lingering bitter chocolate and roast.

On draft. Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Malty, chocolaty aroma. Medium to heavy mouthfeel. Strong chocolate flavor, with undertones of toffee. A really nice brown.
