COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beautiful, deep russet brew has the sweet and somewhat nutty character of Adam Avery's late (1992-2002) Chocolate Lab, for which it is named. Crystal and chocolate malts give this beer a brown sugar maltiness with hints of vanilla and nuts, while subtle hopping gives it an overall drinkability that's second to none, just like Ellie!

Dark brown with massive, creamy head. Nuts and vanilla on the aroma. Smooth, mellow taste with a hint of chocolate and subtle hop bitterness. Very nice mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Fairly dry finish, but some residual nut flavors carry on.

5.5%ABV. Brown Ale. Poured out brown. 36ļSRM. Nose has nutty fullness. Milled chestnut flour. Some residual malt funk. Mouthfeel is light soupy. Palate has roasted chestnuts, black bread, browned wheat toast. There is always an element of old leather in the palate and in the aroma for me whenever I taste a brown. Light hops in the finish. Finish is beery. Good brown ale.

DATE: July 31, 2016... OCCASION: Just enjoyed a nice evening with Judi and Jeff Grow... GLASSWARE: Barley Creek pint... pours a dark brown, almost cola black body with a fleeting two-finger off-white head that rings to a string of filmy bubbles... sugary maltiness mingles with chocolate and vanilla to suggest a flavorful first sip... black licorice, light bread and molasses also leave hints... an incredibly drinkable beer, with a medium-bodied mouth feel that kicks the experience to life... soft, smooth, and apologetic as it leaves--the aftertaste is slightly lactic and brief... vanilla, cocoa, sweet sugars, light hazelnut and cola make for a confident, appetizing experience... Avery delivers on its goods, and this is no exception...

Pours up a murky dark brown, with a dense tan head. Nice sweet aroma, with molasses, caramel, and mild leafy herbal hops. Creamy medium body with soft carbonation. Molasses, caramel, and mild hops on the palate, soft finish. Itís a winning choice in my book.

Pretty bland and tasteless. No off taste and true to style in its boring ness. At the islands can beer.

Malty, cocoa, chocolate aroma. Taste is a malty brown with chocolate notes and a good amount of hops balancing the malt. Full flavored, well made brown. Not overly malty or hoppy. Well done on a normal style by Avery. Really nice brown. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hmm, more nutty in flavor than your typical brown. Decent brown pour w/ thin head & good lacing. The aroma has a very nice dark malt & nut scent. The taste is somewhat dry for a brown & slightly uninteresting. There isnít much chocolate or sweetness to properly balance it. Itís still rather drinkable but not at the top of itís class!

Can pour into shaker pint glass from Andover Liquors. Aroma is bready malt with mild roast and vanilla, cocoa. Appearance is clear, dark mahogany with tons of sparkle, finger-width foamy light brown head with fair retention and nice lacing. Taste is as aroma with addition of mild nuts, brown sugar and dark fruit. Palate is light bodied with thin texture, average carbonation and finish as is taste. Overall, a nice brown ale.

Brown beer from can at bad wolf. Tan head. Malty, syrup and brown sugar flavors. Full flavor for a low abv. Gotta like that. Doesn't taste that great overall tho.
