Commercial Description:
This beautiful, deep russet brew has the sweet and somewhat nutty character of Adam Avery's late (1992-2002) Chocolate Lab, for which it is named. Crystal and chocolate malts give this beer a brown sugar maltiness with hints of vanilla and nuts, while subtle hopping gives it an overall drinkability that's second to none, just like Ellie!

Pours brown with a nice tan head. Aroma is nice and malty. Taste is full of chocolate and caramel malt. This is one of the better brown ales I have had.

Aroma is full of really nice chocolate, caramel, nutty roast. The hops aren’t particularly noticable. There is an earthy vanilla aroma about it. The appearance is a deep brown color with a flat color, the head is there for a moment and then gone, into not much more than a wisp. The taste is smooth full of a really nice chocolate and caramel malt, with a little alcohol as well. The palate feel is excellently smooth, the body is medium to heavy, with a smooth texture, the carbonation is perfectly soft. The beer could become an all day brew. Excellent.

12 ounce bottle from brewforia. Pours a cloudy brown color with hints of red and a medium beige head. The aroma is sweet vanilla, chocolate malts, nutty and toasted. The flavor is similar; a sweet brown ale, vanilla, toasted nutty malts, chocolates. Smooth and very tasty. A nice brew.

Bottle. Poured brown in color with a small light brown head that was mostly diminishing with nice lacing. The aroma was of roasted coffee malts, piney hops and a nice doughy yeast scent. It tasted bitter-sweet at first and finished slightly bitter of hops with the flavor staying with you for quite a while. Mouthfeel was creamy yet oily in texture and medium in body. Overall a tasty brown ale, typical of the style.

Dark brown with a ruby tinge and a thick creamy tan head. Aroma of molasses, brown sugar, nut, fruit, roasted malt. Taste is roasty, burnt biscuity malt. Slight bitter finish. Creamy texture, smooth carbonation, medium bodied.

This was a tasty brown ale, to say the least. Unfortunately it wasn’t really so astonishingly good that I found myself reaching for another. The aroma and color were both good, and standard for a brown ale. The taste was overall good, but it felt light on the palate for a brown ale, and I think that’s what got me about it.

12 oz bottle. Pours a nice copper brown with a decent but short lived off white froth. Aroma is quite good for a brown ale, very rich and chocolately, nutty with a good amount of vanilla and creamy. Flavor starts with a rich and heavy maltiness and quickly gets a sharp nut character. The chocolate continues through the finish with a bit of cocoa powder and a slightly dry finish. Not a lot of bitterness in the finish, just a touch. Medium slightly sticky body and a light fizzy carbonation. Really nice brown ale

12 oz bottle served in a clear tulip. Pour is cola with a reddish hue and a half inch of quickly dissipating cappuccino froth sitting on top. Nose is barley, malt, nuts, peat moss, and earth. Taste is a gritty, earth cola with the hop and malt lingering into the finish. I can’t rate this outstanding, but it is decent and quite sessionable.
