COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beautiful, deep russet brew has the sweet and somewhat nutty character of Adam Avery's late (1992-2002) Chocolate Lab, for which it is named. Crystal and chocolate malts give this beer a brown sugar maltiness with hints of vanilla and nuts, while subtle hopping gives it an overall drinkability that's second to none, just like Ellie!

Had from bottle from Hi Time Wines. Pours dark brown with slight head which dissipates quickly. Lacing is good. Aroma is standard brown with a bit of hops mixed in - malts, chocolate, and roasted caramel. Taste is smooth, creamy, mixture of mostly malts, coffee, and hint of bitter hops at the end. A good brown with a nice hop finish.

12oz can. Hazy brown-red color, a thin light tan head. Great lace. Great chocolate aroma. Nice roasty malt base... A light body, crisp, lighter carbonation, very smooth and easy to drink - a great can-beer. Some hops evident here, a nice balance. Nice light bitter taste, very enjoyable brown ale.

12 oz bottle pours a brown color with an off white head. Aromas of roasted malt, and some citrus in the background. Medium bodied, a nice basic beer from them

Dark brown with tall foamy off-white head. Chocolate malt on the nose. Taste is a pleasant combination of chocolate, nuts, roasted malts and vanilla. Medium body, lots of flavor and substance for such a drinkable brown ale. Definitely one of the better brown’s I’ve had.

Nice, lush aroma, dark chocolate, figs, fruit, vanilla; bit thinner than expected, but good flavor, simplistic, perfectly good sessionable brown ale.

Tap. Brown with dissipating head. Smells like brown sugar and citrus. Not to sweet, had a little toastiness. High carbonation but well blended.

Back in the day this was the beer that got me into Avery. A solid all around good beer that every person should be able to appreciate.
