COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beautiful, deep russet brew has the sweet and somewhat nutty character of Adam Avery's late (1992-2002) Chocolate Lab, for which it is named. Crystal and chocolate malts give this beer a brown sugar maltiness with hints of vanilla and nuts, while subtle hopping gives it an overall drinkability that's second to none, just like Ellie!

Pours dark brown with a hint of red. Thin tan head. Aroma has notes of caramel and chocolate. Nice malty flavor with hints of chocolate. Good mouthfeel. Good beer with no surprises (neither good nor bad).

One of six beers on a flight at Bru Grill and Market, Lake Forest, Orange County on 21st May 2015. Chestnut red, no head. Malty, sweet and nutty in nature: my sweet tooth liked it a lot. A lot sweeter than any UK brewed Brown Ales I have had, but that’s OK and I enjoyed this.

One of the beers that turned me on to brown ales. Perhaps my favorite brown ale at this point, and I like brown ales.

Poured out of a 12 oz bottle. A dark brown ale. Thin tan head. Slight malt aroma. The taste is the highlight. Light on the chocolate, vanilla, almond, a little bit of an earthy flavor. Slightly sweet, nice full mouthfeel. One of my favorite brown ales ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On draft, I was impressed with the appearance of this brown ale, featured a solid ruby brown color with a thick creamy white head that retained itself for most of the pint. Unclear aroma of sugary malts, earthy hops. Taste was earthy hop forward, caramel and roasted nutty malts in the backbone of the flavor profile, then some chocolate malt in the finish and aftertaste. Earthy bitterness is slightly more salient than usual for a brown ale. Very smooth, light-medium bodied, moderate flavor intensity. Enjoyable and relatively complex for the style, but not extraordinary.

Can. Deep brown with some reddish hints in the light. Small beige head. Aroma is sweet caramel mats, leaves. Taste is mild chocolate, nuts... maybe a hint of vanilla. Toffee.
