3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: AUG 29, 2011 Bottle. The pour was a medium brown in color with a small (1 finger or less) foamy light brown head that was mostly diminishing and left behind very light lacing.
The aroma was of roasted malts, a piney hop and a nice doughy yeast scent. It also had notes of coffee, vanilla and a bit of nuttiness.
It tasted bitter-sweet at first with a hint of roasted coffee and finished slightly malty with notes of vanilla and a nice nuttiness at the end. The flavor stayed with you for a enjoyable duration.
Mouthfeel was creamy yet oily in texture and medium in body and had a moderate carbonation.
Overall a nice bold tasting brown ale, typical of the style. Smooth, creamy and easy to drink.

Brown with fleeting loose light tan foam and evident carb with large bubbles. Smells of coffee, cocoa, some soil and leather. Some bits of tea and metal. Flavor is biscuity, chocolate, coffee, nuts, roasty malts. Much better flavor than the nose - which is bland. Medium bodied with moderate carb and a wet finish with long aftertaste. Much nicer than I had expected.

Pours a dark brown color, a bit of light comes through the edges of the beer, with a nice tan head. Smells of malt and chocolate, the taste is pretty similar with a bit of nuttiness, reminds me more of a stout that a brown ale.

This is my new favorite session beer. Ellie's is a 'new old favorite'. Pours a dark brown and has a nice balanced mealtimes yet with a brown sugar sweetness. Yum.

Bottle. Pours a brown color with off white head. Chocolate, malty, nutty, vanilla aromas. Chocolate, light roasty, nutty, malty flavors. I’ve always wanted to really like this beer, but it seems like it always has a little bit of a metallic taste that is a little off-putting to me.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours dark brown, not much of a head, lacing nonexistent. Nose is a whole lotta molasses, malt, chocolate.(big fucking chocolate), think: brown bodied, . Mouth is medium bodied, molasses, malt, munchy crunchy chocolaty, brown sugar, crunchy fall leaves. Look... Stylistically, I don’t really like brown ales as a matter of taste, but this is an out-fucking-standing cerveza! Mucho gusto, guey!
