COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The 5th release in our Tap Room Only series - a unique 14-barrel sour blend from Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel and Whiskey barrels with flavors of vanilla and fig.

Deep dark brownish hue with a light beige foamy cap. Nice deep sweet sour funky twang with some toffee and cherry and plums. Lovely and wondrous flavor of lacto sour twang with dark malts, rich raisins, a touch of cherries and ending with a rich sour finish that’s a little sharp but cuts the sweetness.

A tap room only, sour, 14-barrel blend from Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel and whiskey barrels. The name means hermit in Latin. Deep purple-brown and opaque save some amber highlights. Thin yet dense tan head. Really get the red wine in the nose. Cabernet, vanilla, green oak, dark cherry, balsamic. More tart then sweet, but good balance. MUCH more sour in flavor. First noticeable is heavy, acidic balsamic green apple tartness. Beneath, layers of complexity: toasted oak, green and white grapes, dark cherries, a touch of pear. Very noticeable wine character, but little to no whiskey. Lingering red grapes. Medium body, mild pinching carb. Very little fizz. Huge acid sticks to the tongue. Great. Could be a touch less sour. But very nice, good complexity from the wine.

Decent sour with some wine and whiskey character. Sour fruity esters. Light palate with good carbonation. Nice ruby color. More subtle up front with a relatively dry finish. Whiskey added a nice touch.

(Draught) very dark ruby garnet colored beer, fine tan bubbles. Nose of whiskey, Cabernet, wood, tart cranberry, and a touch of moss. Taste of caramel, whiskey, Cabernet, rich wine flavors dominate here, big barrel flavor. Medium carbonation, graham cracker finish, nice beer.

Deep red/brown pour with an off white head. Big Cabernet nose with deep acidic layers along with light whiskey. Med body with deep fruits, whiskey and lacto. Sweet acidic finish. Excellent!

On tap and brewery. Pours reddish with off-white head. Aroma is very sour, vinegar. Very complex flavors...lots of grapes coming through, sour, a bit of sweetness balancing out all the sour. A great beer!!

Pour on tap at the brewery, dark reddish brown pour with thin off white head, aroma brought notes of sour cherry, date, fig, hints of earth, vanilla, whiskey comes through, slight sour grape, oak in there, a bit muddled. Taste is just as muddled, a bit thin on the body with fig, vanilla, sour fruits, hints of oak, whiskey and more vanilla kick with a touch of earth, finishing bitter, dry, boozy.

On tap at Avery. Dark red with an off-white head. Aroma is sour cherries, figs vanilla and vinegar. Taste is acidic vinegar with some malt, fruit and oak notes. Light, dry and tart finish. A bit too much vinegar for me.

Draft, pours amber with off white head. Aroma is oaky, sweaty socks, Bo, manure, horsey, Flavors have tart cherry, vanilla, soy, toffee, tart and sweet finish. Pretty solid Brett brux forward sour.
