2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
Clear pale golden like a Pilsner with a foamy sticky head. Big spruce and pine aroma that’s bitter and earthy. Nice flavor but there’s a prominent woody and piney flavor throughout that kinda gets old fast. A bit leafy and herbal, with a earthy and spruce led bitterness.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On draft at the Avery Tap Room. Pours an orangish amber with a medium white head. Aroma of spruce, mild caramel malt, some floral notes. Spruce is dominating on the flavor, creating a sprucy bitterness with mild malt backing. Medium bodied, above average carbonation. This isn’t really my jam.

Draft taster at the tasting room. Small flute like glass. Pours a light orange amber with a moderate head. Some lacing. Aroma is a mild pine forest. You get the spruce, but not terribly bold. The taste is moderate with pine, light musty hops, a cereal grain backbone. Light body, not much there overall.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampler at Avery’s. Appearance: average sized white head, excellent lace, light yellow color. Aroma: spruce, resin, leather. Palate: light body, sticky texture, average carbonation. Taste: long duration, moderately sweet, moderately bitter. Overall, tastes like a good version of spruce sap and makes you feel like you need to hike to the top of something. Enjoyable, but not something I would want more than 10 oz. of at one time.
