Commercial Description:
15 years of brewing! You know what’s been the best part lately? Tons of experimentation! For the last couple of years, we’ve been working with several strains of brettanomyces (wild yeast). We found one and deemed it the best for it’s tart flavor and funky, fruity aroma. Adding black mission figs for a subtle jammy aspect, hibiscus flowers for an herbal bouquet and hazy sunset hue, and white pepper for a bit of spicy twang, we’ve created FIFTEEN - a unique drinking experience inspired by the wild farmhouse ales of Belgium. Though immensely complex today, more flavor will emerge with time, so throw a few bottles in your cellar for future celebrations. Thanks to all of you who have made our 15-year ride possible! Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, hops, black mission figs, hibiscus flowers, white pepper, and a very unique strain of brettanomyces yeast.

got to try this on tap at papago before i cracked a bomber... looks like it’s gonna be cool when the brett takes over... pours a hazy orange golden with a white head and light drippy lacing. the aroma is strange... rather biere de garde-ish... orange, cinnamon, clove, lots of yeast, light apple cider vinegar/sour fruit without the harshness, minerals, wood, funky and weird. the flavor is a bit strange... it’s very medicinal and mineral-y akin to vitamin pills, wood, musty funk, cinnamon/clove/spice, lots of weird and a spicy dry finish. light to medium body. prickly mouth feel from high carbonation seems to work... i’m confused...7/4/7/3/15/3.6

bottle sampled one year after release... this has been sitting at room temperature the entire time! it has almost a pure bretty stink on the nose!... ok, there are some notes of malty sweetness, flowers, earth and fruit... peaches and oranges but not figs. again, on the palate there is a fruitiness but fo’ sho’ not figs... flavors of sweet juicy apricots?, oranges, cement, flowers and an herbaceous bretty finish. it is pretty dry throughout and at times shows some tartness. it is medium bodied with a light airy carbonation... refreshingly weird and impressive... hitting its stride.9/4/8/4/17/4.2

Murky apricot puree body with abundant yeast sediment, spritzy medium off-white head. Fairly strong pineapple aroma, tart, sourish, and sweaty, with light spice. Boozy body, the sharp carbonation carrying the spicy esters and light fruits (pineapple, primarily). None of the sourness promised by the aroma. Average, somewhat boring beer after a promising aroma.

Very interesting. Brett is a "wild" yeast with highly variable characteristics. I applaud Avery for the attempt. I don’t much care for the result. The head, color, general appearance, mouthfeel are all good. The flavors are strange, with a real bump of biochemistry sourness early on. I wonder if a different fruit, perhaps cherry, would have created a better result.

(22oz. bottle, courtesy of Lumpy) Pours a hazy golden orange body with a small white head. Aroma of florals, leather, plum, and earth. Flavor of cattail, floral, dark fruit, pepper, and some funkiness.

22oz bomber. Pours a golden amber with a thick white frothy head. Sweaty funky sour apple aroma and some other fruity notes. Slightly creamy, herbal, floral, and spicy taste. The pepper kicks in a bit more than the aroma lets on. Slightly sour, black pepper aftertaste. I’m not much of a sour fan, but this kept my attention while I tried to identify all of the spices fruits herbs, etc... I like the fact that Avery is trying new things and this was an intriguing offering from them.

Bottle and served in NB worthy glass: Slightly hazy amber gold with a fizzy head and some lace. The aroma has notes of herbal and grassy hops and spice, tart fruit, some brett barnyard funk and Belgian Candi sugar, and very peppery. Wow is this spicier than the nose let on, took me a few minutes to adjust then find the sour fruit and funk under it all. Biscuity and toasty malts before even more peppery and herb finish. Very weird but as I got use to it I seem to enjoy it more. The mouth feel is crisp and lively. A tad underrated IMO but I could see why.

Bottle. Light cereal note for the malt, moderate perfume and lemon for the hops and moderate barnyard for the yeast with vinegar, allspice, acorn squash and fig in the background. Head is small, between creamy and fizzy, white with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing but is continuous. Color is hazy but sparkling, amber. Flavor is lightly sweet and moderatly acidic, then finishes moderately acidic and lightly bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery, and has a lively carbonation. Fruity and unique, but not much my style of beer.

deep murky orange color with a 1 finger white head. very sour/tart fruity nose. good thickness but the sour/tartness doesn’t continue until the finish. some age should do this beer a lot of justice.
