GreatLibations (1440), Last Supper, Arizona, USA Jul 12, 2008 Pours pale golden w/ a slight pinkish tone to it. A solid head rises and sticks like glue reducing slowly leaving a sticky lace as a reminder. Strong infected aromas wahft about my nostrils. Full nectar w/ creamy residual effers. This infected specimen is on the mild side of the tart/sour spectrum. I can actually drink this one although I do see a lack of character compared to it’s peers. I am picking up on some wild apple, light colord stone fruit like nectarine and peach. Throw in some exotic tropical nuances and a pinch of spice and it’s summed up. The finish is wet, mildly infected, and lasting. Quite complex. enginaaron (73), San Diego, California, USA Jul 12, 2008 People don’t get it. This is a sour ale brewed with 100% Brett yeast. This was pretty much an experimentation beer to see what it would be like to have a sour ale with hibiscus, white pepper, and figs. And, I think it turned out well! Aroma wasn’t great, but there weren’t any bad aromas. Smells like a very mild brett yeast. Appearance was a redish golden with a long lasting white head. Flavor was a mild to low sourness that went away about halfway through. You can definitely taste the pepper and hibiscus and I think it’s a good addition! This was so easy to drink and had a good flavor. Very mild brett. Good! I’ll buy it again! DON’T LISTEN TO THE NAYSAYERS!! Walt (2289), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 12, 2008 Pour is slightly hazed but more clear golden yellow with a dense white head...smell is leathery and lightly spiced...taste is lightly fruity and sweet at first, but turning fairly dry and leathery...not super dry as there is a lot of residual sweetmess... JPDIPSO (4865), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Jul 10, 2008 Updated: Jul 11, 2008Lightly hazed light golden liquid. Tall lasting off-white head. Sweet somewhat syrupy scent with a definite brett sidebar. Fruits of apricot, pears and figs. Some notes of malt and horseblanket. Big hit of malt in the front. Light fruit in the background. Hints of alcohol bounce about. I like the potential in this one, but right now it is a bit syrupy and sweet. As a self professed malthead I like the change of pace from the overly hopped brews. Some hints of spice in the finish and linger. Palate is a bit sticky, but I can tolerate that with the malt at this time. I look forward to trying this again, in a year or three. Ughsmash (3981), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jul 10, 2008 Bomber. Poured clear brighter golden with a short-lived, looser cap of white head. The aroma picked up a really odd blend of spices (some pepper, but I couldn’t place everything else).. strawberry and rhubarb jam behind with a floral component that built with warmth.. footy funk built with warmth, but didn’t really help. The flavor had sticky toffee and fig sweetness caked with white pepper, nutmeg, and coriander.. tart, spicy funkage at the back that left thick spices. Medium-bodied with quite active carbonation on the palate.. there were some decent components in here, but it certainly didn’t come together well. rallison (113), USA Jul 10, 2008 Very funky aroma. Lots of barnyard and cheese here. Fruity esters show up more as the beer warms.
Minimal head with a clear, light amber body.
Slightly sour taste with a sweet, somewhat fruity malt body. The smell I enjoyed, but the taste is a letdown. Not very complex, not nearly as funky as the smell and just not that interesting.
Medium body with relatively low carbonation.
Overall, meh. Smell was great in the funk department. Taste, kind of boring. We’ll see how this one ages. railcat1 (578), Orlando, Florida, USA Jul 8, 2008 This was ok with a smooth belgian farmhouse taste and a bitter yet nasty aftertaste CHEERS! BorksBabe (81), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 8, 2008 Aroma is slightly citrus with a hint of hops and urinal cake. Appears to be a traditional belgian but is more like a ceizen in makeup. Too thin on the palate and flavor is incredibly disappointing. Aftertaste of feet and piss. ew.
