Commercial Description:
15 years of brewing! You know what’s been the best part lately? Tons of experimentation! For the last couple of years, we’ve been working with several strains of brettanomyces (wild yeast). We found one and deemed it the best for it’s tart flavor and funky, fruity aroma. Adding black mission figs for a subtle jammy aspect, hibiscus flowers for an herbal bouquet and hazy sunset hue, and white pepper for a bit of spicy twang, we’ve created FIFTEEN - a unique drinking experience inspired by the wild farmhouse ales of Belgium. Though immensely complex today, more flavor will emerge with time, so throw a few bottles in your cellar for future celebrations. Thanks to all of you who have made our 15-year ride possible! Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, hops, black mission figs, hibiscus flowers, white pepper, and a very unique strain of brettanomyces yeast.

On tap at Oldsmar Tap House. Pours a cloudy mango color, with very creamy lacing and a big fluffy white head. Aroma is fairly tart, with a healthy malty backing, some citrus and mango. Flavor is bretty and funky, with wheat and some malt in the finish. Fairly drinkable, but doesn’t warm up very well at all. Dry, big bretty finish.

Bottle from Foodery II in Philly, and I paid way too much. I have never understood how people got "barnyard" from bretty beers. I grew up in the midwest downwind from several farms. Barnyards smell like animal shit. I have never smelled animal shit in a beer.......until now. Congratulations Avery, you have done it. Imagine a horse eating a bushel of lemons, then dropping a huge duce on some hay. That’s what this beer smells like. Yes, it’s a very unique strain alright. So it gets a 1 for the shit, 6 for the lemons with a final average of 3. Pours a cloudy golden orange with a white head. I was hoping the flavor would help this beer, but sadly it did not. This tastes like flower vase water, figs, and white pepper countered by a funky tartness. I don’t enjoy these herbally belgian beers, and this is no exception. Borderline drain pour.

Pours pale golden w/ a slight pinkish tone to it. A solid head rises and sticks like glue reducing slowly leaving a sticky lace as a reminder. Strong infected aromas wahft about my nostrils. Full nectar w/ creamy residual effers. This infected specimen is on the mild side of the tart/sour spectrum. I can actually drink this one although I do see a lack of character compared to it’s peers. I am picking up on some wild apple, light colord stone fruit like nectarine and peach. Throw in some exotic tropical nuances and a pinch of spice and it’s summed up. The finish is wet, mildly infected, and lasting. Quite complex.

People don’t get it. This is a sour ale brewed with 100% Brett yeast. This was pretty much an experimentation beer to see what it would be like to have a sour ale with hibiscus, white pepper, and figs. And, I think it turned out well! Aroma wasn’t great, but there weren’t any bad aromas. Smells like a very mild brett yeast. Appearance was a redish golden with a long lasting white head. Flavor was a mild to low sourness that went away about halfway through. You can definitely taste the pepper and hibiscus and I think it’s a good addition! This was so easy to drink and had a good flavor. Very mild brett. Good! I’ll buy it again! DON’T LISTEN TO THE NAYSAYERS!!

Pour is slightly hazed but more clear golden yellow with a dense white head...smell is leathery and lightly spiced...taste is lightly fruity and sweet at first, but turning fairly dry and leathery...not super dry as there is a lot of residual sweetmess...

Lightly hazed light golden liquid. Tall lasting off-white head. Sweet somewhat syrupy scent with a definite brett sidebar. Fruits of apricot, pears and figs. Some notes of malt and horseblanket. Big hit of malt in the front. Light fruit in the background. Hints of alcohol bounce about. I like the potential in this one, but right now it is a bit syrupy and sweet. As a self professed malthead I like the change of pace from the overly hopped brews. Some hints of spice in the finish and linger. Palate is a bit sticky, but I can tolerate that with the malt at this time. I look forward to trying this again, in a year or three.
