carl4beer (394), Fairfax Station, Virginia, USA Jul 3, 2008 22oz. pours a clear copper with a big bubbly head. aroma has big fig with complements of some malt and a bit of spice. mouthful has big fig and tartness that fades to some spice and yeast. very enjoyable. Ty5592 (1015), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 2, 2008 Draft. Hazy gold color with small head. Lively carbonation. Aroma was malty with light fruity notes with large sour brett notes. The taste was the same with light sweetness in the finish. The finish was lightly sweet, bready malt, and brett. beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA Jul 1, 2008 Very fruity with a dry tart finish. Pours gold with a amber hue towards the edges. Peppery esters, not as earthy and funky, but that might change with time. Brett and citrus notes towards the finish, floral with a white grape flavor. I thought this was pretty decent. IndianaRed (1553), Boise, Idaho, USA Jul 1, 2008 Botttle poures a hazy yellow with a small fizy white head. Aroma is quite frankly a bit off putting. Medicinal amd funky. Plastic and of bandaids. Flavor is tart and the brett is obvious. Agin, medicine cabinet’ bandages and save.
Weird....and not in a good way.
BückDich (4793), McCall, Idaho, USA Jul 1, 2008 Bottle: Pours a gold copper color with light white head and nice lacing. The nose is tart with a fruity light note, like cherry or sherry. The flavor is tart with a nice chewy yeast and ester note. Lots of tart fruits and light spicy notes. I love the brett notes running around here. Some of the pepper and flowers shine through in an odd way. I don’t get it unless I’m looking for it. But I am getting a bit of that urinal cake thing. Doesn’t bother me much though. The funk of the yeast can be excused (and enjoyed) for the right kinds. hopscotch (5441), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Jul 1, 2008 Bottle... Cloudy golden ale with a small, fizzy, white head. The funky, acidic nose imparts notes of pale grains, lemon and cheese. Full-bodied with fizzy carbonation. Good bitterness and funkiness. Grainy and citrusy (lemon peel). Funky, minerally, moderately bitter finish. PorterPounder (3133), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Jul 1, 2008 Tallahassee, Fl. - Market Square Liquors - 22 oz bomber. Bright orange, slightly murky, with a faint white head. Yeasty aroma with some grape accents. Flavor reminds me of muscadine grapes and has some raisins, pomegranates and a large dollop of yeast. An odd cobination and not the most refreshing saison I have consumed. Mouthfeel is thick and rich - a plus for this one. Overall, needs work. dmac (1423), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Jul 1, 2008 22 oz bomber from Wine King. Pours a hazy orange with a medium size bright white foamy head. Aroma has lots yeast, some dill pickels, olives and then a nice segway into more of a floral funky aroma. Medium bodied with a very dry finish and lively carbonation. Flavor is much like the aroma with floral funkiness and slight fruity funkiness. I have to go against the grain on this one and say I enjoyed it and think it’s very underrated.
