Commercial Description:
15 years of brewing! You know what’s been the best part lately? Tons of experimentation! For the last couple of years, we’ve been working with several strains of brettanomyces (wild yeast). We found one and deemed it the best for it’s tart flavor and funky, fruity aroma. Adding black mission figs for a subtle jammy aspect, hibiscus flowers for an herbal bouquet and hazy sunset hue, and white pepper for a bit of spicy twang, we’ve created FIFTEEN - a unique drinking experience inspired by the wild farmhouse ales of Belgium. Though immensely complex today, more flavor will emerge with time, so throw a few bottles in your cellar for future celebrations. Thanks to all of you who have made our 15-year ride possible! Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, hops, black mission figs, hibiscus flowers, white pepper, and a very unique strain of brettanomyces yeast.

Don’t wanna be a r, but this was not good to me at all. Skunky and funky, almost budweiserish, most def will not get ever again.

OK. I was duped. I thought this was that new brett only beer (it is, just kidding). Tried a sample at PP Solano. Yellow color. Frothy off-white head. Saaz hop aroma. Maybe the smallest hint of tartness. Easish to drink. OK beer. Not like other wonderful all-brett home brews and beers I’ve tried.

100th rating of this beer. 22 oz. bomber bottle. Bottled in April 2008. Poured out a light golden color, with a foamy white head. Aromas are flowers, pepper, definite fig preserves. Flavors are sweet malts, figs, pepper, funky yeast, some barnyard. Medium mouthfeel, decent body, even if it’s a little thin. Finished somewhat sweet. Decent experimental beer overall. Could use some aging though.

On tap; aroma was funky and a bit musty, but not much else. Flavor was very similar, with maybe some grain. Really there was little to no spice, which was pretty glaring. Overall it was a real disappointment, especially since it is a anniversary beer.

Draft @ Cafe Amsterdam - Everytime I taste an Avery beer lately I get less and less impressed and I used to love their beers, I don’t know what happened. This is lackluster at best, with some very light bodied grainy cereal maltiness and somewhat overcarbonated, leaves a very unimaginative mouthfeel. Starts out a little tart, but blends into some light but fogettable spice. This was worse than Karma. Glad I did not opt for a full pint.

22 ounce bottle from By The By The Bottle in the ’Couve, WA--Poured a bright orange-copper hazy body with no head. Some dull acidic brett in the nose. Figs and hibiscus were hard to detect though they were in there somewhere. Starts off with some promise up front. Sweet, a little tart and sour, but dies on the palate. Watery and mildly cloying. Probably the worst Avery beer I have ever had. Quite disappointing. Total drain pour. I feel robbed for paying almost $10 for this junk!

"Funky" is how Avery described it, and I should have believed them. Just not a good beer.
